EA will fix their fiction, why can't CCP do so?

I'll just leave this here. BioWare responds to Mass Effect: Deception outcry, fixes will be made

Also, in before "lol roleplayers and geeks." Everyone who plays Internet spaceships is a geek in my book. I should also say that EVE's fiction isn't my number one priority and I don't think it should be CCP's either. But simple things could be done.

Regardless of how the EVE novels have been received -- compared to the rest of the game industry I would realistically expect low-to-average sales numbers -- there are gaping holes, inconsistencies, and retcons on the same scale or worse than the Eurogamer article above suggests regarding Mass Effect.

I've seen the recent dev blogs by Abraxas. I applaud his -- and Content's and ISD's -- work on EVElopedia. But I'm not convinced that a simple restructure is enough. Some serious mistakes have been made that need to be address. A while back we had "fiction patch notes" which were very useful. I'd like to see something like that return. New editions of the EVE books would be even better, like EA have planned for Mass Effect.

Frankly I don't believe that CCP should be in the novel business. This isn't to say anything of the quality of any particular individual's work, but I first and foremost believe the company and their Content department need to be focused on their game. That means putting Content to work on the game and the fiction inside of it. The game was much more engaging when this was the case a few years ago.
