this is probebly a subtile topic, but:

When you mine, you do it for the money, i mean, you dont do it becouse you like it... i hope. And also when you trade, you do it for the money. But what if you have a few triljon isk and you trade..... and than what? In the end we all want pvp, right? You cant just switch from market skills to pvp skills. discuss

I mine because it's calming and peaceful, actually.

Market IS PVP. Just less shooting.

And some people don't want pvp. Quit generalising. Quit being a disposable alt.

If you don't think that trading is a form of warfare, then you sir are ill informed about largescale warfare.

I switched from combat(PvE) to industry. I like number. For combat(PvP) I play other non MMO games.

If EVE's a sandbox, then there's people who enjoy building their sandcastles, there's people who enjoy kicking over said sandcastles, there's people who enjoy just sitting in the sandbox feeling the sand between their toes, chilling. It's all cool, as long as you don't start thinking the sand is supposed to edible. It's a sandbox. Have fun. With the sand!

Some people like relaxing after work, shooting the breeze over the humm of mining lasers.

Some people enjoy the spreadsheets of trade. And if you have a few trillion isk, you can easily trade some of that in for PvP SP and finance your acquisition of PvP skills.

In Trade, a player wins Eve if they have the most ISK when they die. ..... end of line......

Mining can be done semi-AFK. Listen to a podcast while doing it, or even watch some kind of video. It's doable even with several accounts.

Moving to null and doing pvp costs isk. I like not having to grind missions and anoms for isk.

Why do you think that? Just buy the skills and train them? I play 2 characters and started them out as perfect miners, and now both have their own specific roles in differents domain and I recently started training both for PVE and pvp eventually.

Well, lets say you are a orca pilot. Your whole character life you have trained for mining skills and so. You cant just switch to a pvp pilot. You need way more, and way different skills for that.

Bah! My main can (and does) fly an Orca and a Rorq. (but haven't done the clone bay stuff since it doesn't work in w-space). Started as a miner (it is social and good way to learn the game), progressed into manufacturing and then some trade. Eventually got into invention. Parallel to this, I trained EWAR ships which can be quite useful for almost no input.

Then, they did away with learning skills, and I am suddenly a top-notch (skill-wise) command ship pilot for two races Lol. Anyway, with a week or two of training, you CAN switch from industrial to low-level PvP. I have never bothered to train for large weapons and spent enough time in med. weapons to fly several effective command ships and battlecruisers, not to mention cruisers if you want to stay cheap. One advantage of industrial type player - I have had the same +5s in my mains head for a couple of years now, and I have clones here and there will +3 sets for combat and different warfare mindlinks.

Skill overlaps abound:
Engineering
Electronics
Hull Upgrades
Mechanic
etc.

Not to mention, almost all miners have some combat skills to allow them to grind some standings for tax relief...

I do like mining, it's perfect for grading papers and / or perparing things for the next day. Just keep half an eye on new ships warping in and you can make some ISK to pay for the ships you need when you do have time to pay attention to the game.
