I used to play EVE last year as a Minmatar, although I was only maybe 5 million SP in? maybe less?
Back on my original account I had NO idea what I was doing, I did all the career advancement training, then went onto the Sisters of Eve Epic Arc. From there I found a Corp and I moved 80% of my stuff many jumps away to be at their station.

Now I am back on a new acct, doing the trail, but only like 750,000 SP in. Would it be easier to just activate my original acct, and find a new 'home' and continue on?

Im just really confused because with my other acct, I must had had at least a full month of SP training..

5 mil SP is about 3 month's worth of training and Minmatar is more than good so you're fine there as well. It comes down to you liking the old char, name and background. If you don't have an OCD "I missed training time AAARGH" and you have no problems with your old char's name, looks and background then I see no reason to restart.

I'm sure a few hours of effort to move stuff around and get used to it again is worth 3 months worth of skills.

Excellence is not a skill, it's an attitude.

That's very true... I mean, yeah the name isn't good on my old character, but that's not going to stop me from playing him again.

Is there anyway I can find out how many SP I have on my old account thats not active?

The only thing with my old account is, I'm not sure if I actually finished the sisters of Eve, and how my reputation is (Although it can't really be bad)...

Something tells me I should just jump on my old acct, even if I only have 1.5 million SP, it's a lot further than my 1 ship, rifter, and 750k SP....at least I have a thrasher and whatnot..

If you have issues with the name then you might want to reconsider. Many folks start playing this game and pick some silly dumb name "because it's just a trial, right" and then end up playing for 4+ years while having that dumb name. When on voice coms being called "d!ldo1337" for the 7 millionth time gets really old.

You can use a program like EVEMon and create an API key for you old account (it's explained when you launch the program)
With it you can check the ISK, skill points, which skills even mails you have on that account. All of that without even having to resin it. I did it to check if my previous trial was worth resubbing(turned out it wasn't because I had only played for there days)

I believe API for unsubbed accounts don't work, as you need to log in with an active account to make one.

What you could do is activate "Hours for PLEX" option that CCP gives, keep in mind you can only do that once for an account.
What this option does is give you 4 hours of playtime for free, in that time you can check your account as it was a usual paying account and see if you want to keep it (make it a paid subscription or transfer your assets to your new account). After the 4 hours are over and you didn't subscribe yet it will go inactive again.

It does work seeing that I used it to check my previous account which is unsubbed and even on a different email adress than this one :)

That being said, the hours for PLEX thing is pretty easy to use too
