Mission Journal - Quality of Life Improvement

EDIT: TL;DR - I'm suggesting that mission items given upon accepting a mission go to your cargo hold upon request and a contextual menu for right clicking icons on the neocom to help navigation & user-friendliness.

Having been trawling my way through some mission I had some ideas what could have made my journey's a lot more enjoyable and efficient. Here are a couple of ideas from my head which I think will improve quality of life.

  1. Right Clicking the journal on the neocom

This would allow us to view a compact drop down list of current missions and their location, we could then set our destination from there. You could also keep the agent home base there for a quick reference/destination too. Upon further using the drop down list you could also see mission information & details.

You could also colour code the text so you can see what mission has been completed and what is underway. Here is an example: (ignore the dots, they are only there to provide spacing to resemble the menu)

[Journal Icon] - [Mission Name] -> [Agent Name]... -> ..[Agent Location]
..................................................[Mission Details]......[Agent Faction]
................................................................................[Agent Standing]

[Journal Icon] - [Mission Name] -> [Agent Name] ........[Mission Type]
..................................................[Mission Details] -> [Mission Level]
...............................................................................[Enemy Encountered]
...............................................................................[Damage Dealt by Enemy]
...............................................................................[Recommended Damage to Deal]

So right clicking the journal icon will bring up the menu. The mission name would be either green if you have completed it or yellow if it is underway. Obviously the more missions you have the first prefix menu will have more mission names.

- Right clicking the mission name would allow us to set our destination to the mission location
- Right clicking the agent name would allow us to set our destination to the agent who assigned us the task

and so on an so forth.

This intended process is to save opening the journal and scanning through your mission UI. The idea is for it to be compact, but easily readable & identifiable. Colour coordination also helps narrow down your search significantly depending on what you are looking for.

If you could think of anything else to add to the drop down list then be my guest, that was only just a couple rough ideas.

2. The option to move mission items directly into cargo hold upon receiving them

I know this is just me being silly but so many times have I read what a mission entails yet forget to put the mission item I was given upon accepting the mission, into my ship cargo hold.

What I think would be great, would be if when accepting such a mission, a pop-up message occurs asking whether you would like to move the item in to your cargo hold.

"Would you like this item to be sent directly to your ship's cargo hold?"

[Yes] [No]

You could then possibly click a "remember this option from now on" button for those who do not want to see it again.

If you did click yes but your cargo hold was full then an error message would pop up saying:

"Your cargo hold appears to be full, the item has been placed in your station hangar."

I feel as though this would benefit many players, newcomers and more experienced alike.

So those are my Ideas, thank you for reading! I hope you leave some feedback (positive or negative! ^^) below.

Anyone have any opinions?

With a right click menu you could add sections for a quick overview of research point and loyalty points as well, just for quick refernce. This sounds like a decent addition. Perhaps the Science & Industry right click could show a list of jobs being run currently.

WoW holds your hand until end game, and gives you a cookie whether you win or lose. EVE not only takes your cookie, but laughs at you for bringing one in the first place...

Good idea!

I haven't done a great deal of industry related things yet so I overlooked that. But I'm sure many neocom icons could benefit one way or another.

I like it, both ideas. Everything that makes it less clunky is good.

Im afraid that your post was too long for most people to read, thus so few replies.

Ah well, as long as it gets read that's the main thing.

The more missions I do, the more I really want this feature added. After I complete an objective it is as you said 'clunky' having to go through the journal to see whether the objective is complete.

A simple right click on the journal neocom would be massively better.

Thanks for all the feedback guys ^^

I'm brand new to this game (like 4 days old) but I think this would help out quite a bit. Any interface improvements would be valuable. The game isn't really clunky, it just takes time to adjust to everything in it... but this is an awesome idea.

Glad you like the idea mate :) Not a day goes past where I think to myself this would be a great addition.
