What does a CSM member do and how many of them are there.

I dont mean that they advise on this or advise on that.

What are the practical implications of being a CSM

Apart from occasionally going to Iceland all expenses paid and becoming a figure of fun/goon, what are the daily tasks that they have to do. IE Do they have a hotline to Hilmar or CCP customer services

Next question-How many CSM members are there and who are they. Apart from Mittans the Mighty i could not name a single one.

You never know who they are till election time, then they come out of the woodwork telling us all about what they've done etc.
Just the same as your typical regular politician does, nothing knew.

IDK how many there are tbh. Maybe 8?

They'd like to think they had something to do with the whole refocus on FIS this last expansion and maybe they did who knows. They go to iceland for emergency summits when ccp sees their bottom line falling rapidly after introducing some ******** ass cash shop and a room you can walk clumsily around in calling it an "expansion".

Other than that they attend the CSM summits and ***** at ccp about this or that, then after extensive editing they release the "minutes"(in quotations cause the last release wasn't in a minutes style platform, more of a press release) of that summit.

Are they bad people? Of course they are, they're playing eve. They're no worse than the rest of us though and, they even take some time out of their real life(assuming they have a semblance of life, I have no idea) to attempt to influence the direction of eve for better or for worse.

/my thoughts on csm

I plan on living forever.......so far, so good.

You should ask your questions in the CSM forum that CCP setup specifically for doing that https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=topics&f=268

This is a game and they are not paid to do what they do. They continue on with their lives, job, family, etc. In game, they continue playing Eve.

They are also (at least supposed to) keep in touch with the playerbase, and stalk the Jita Park forum. They also have Skype meetings with CCP now and then.

That's about it.

They go to Iceland and perform the reach-around on each other (well, ok, everyone mostly waits in line to give one to Mittens).

I suspect we're better with them than without. May be interesting to think about constituents for different empires/hisec/wh space etc.

From what I've noticed (been playing since 2007 on my main acct)

The CSM is a big ploy. They are here to make us regular players feel nice and fuzzy about our opinions playing a role in CCP's development.

CSM meets with CCP to discuss problems with the game. Problems with the community, and anything else the capsuleers may want to "formally" bring to the attention of CCP.

BUT,

There is no guarantee the things the CSM suggest to CCP will ever manifest in the Game/Web/Forums/etc....

Last year, during the protests, CCP called an emergency CSM meeting so people would feel better.

Andski you are such a ****. Do you really think that everyone in highsec just spends all day in a hulk. We all run Incursions all day long making tons of isk trying to raise the price of PLEX so that one day your goonfails will not be able to play anymore

Buying plex vs mountain dew = no more goons

When the CSM was founded this was essentially true. Since last year its less true.

The fact that someone has to ask what the CSM is, given the years its been in operation, shows why it is primarily populated with members that come from highly organized Alliances and Corporations. The continual bleating of high sec inhabitants that they should have representation in the CSM is a lost cause when the majority of Eve Online's players are ignorant of the CSM.

You asked me once, what was in Room 101. I told you that you knew the answer already. Everyone knows it. The thing that is in Room 101 is the worst thing in the world.

The mass protests last year was the first time I've seen the CSM make a genuinely noticeable difference. But, I haven't spent much time living in nullsec so I didn't notice much before last year.
