Would be nice to have on fitting window, what size module a ship uses. This would be nice for new players.

A ship can use the size it fits. There's no specified size per ship.

What Luba is saying is that technically you can fit a typically frigate-sized gun on a battleship or conversely a large 100mn AB on a cruiser hull (T3).

To add to this, some modules do not have a "size". For example weapon upgrades such as Tracking Enhancers or propulsion inhibitors such as Webifiers and Scramblers only have one size. Their ability to be fit is limited by their CPU/PG requirements.

Some tips/

1) Get hold of a good "fitting tool" like EFT or PYFA. These will make planning fits much easier than in-game.

2) Check out a resource such as the eve wiki or battleclinic for some starter fits. You may need to sift through the pile to find a good fit but it's a good place to start if nothing else.

3) When you 'hover' over a module in your "items" view you will notice the PG and CPU on your fitting window changes as per if that module was fitted. If the CPU and/or PG goes way over then you know the module is probably not going to fit on your ship and online.

4) Once you have some ideas post fits in this forum to have them burned to the ground and advice given to you.

5) As a general rule you want to be maxing out your CPU or PG (or both) on your ship to maximise it's potential.

Edit: forum decided I empty quoted. Go figure.

Anyhow, advice above is good. Only guns and rigs are really "sized". Some gun names (lasers, I'm looking at you) are annoying.

Armor plates and shield extenders are frequently oversized. Armor reps are effective undersized. Shield boosters can go either way pretty easily. Even remote reps can swing odd fits. A Curse can fit a heavy neut. Many ships can swing an oversized prop mod; T1 industrials are usually stuck undersizing. MAPCs are usually best on frigates; RCUs are generally reserved for larger ships.

Play with fitting tools. Experience does teach best.
