I think they turned the brightness down in the last patch, because since that patch I have not had to turn my camera away or look away from my monitor as I had to before the patch. Some of the suns and glowing fog were ridiculously bright and did physically hurt the eyes.

Play Battlefield 3 and run up on someone with a ******* flashlight on.

After that, you can come back here and stare at suns for a while.

Hello, hello again.

Kinda have to agree with the OP. When you have to arrange the camera so that you're looking away from the focus of your activities, something is wrong. Besides, in many instances the nebula are so bright as to wash out module activation indicators. Now, we used to have letterboxing with the game which was a nice feature to combat this but, that was taken away from us. *sigh*

This.

As usual most of you suck. Nebulae are too bright. When it washes out your module cycle indicators it's a design problem. Hated and dealt with this for years. Fix pl0x.

If anyone ever looks at you and says,_ "Hold my beer, watch this,"_  you're probably going to want to pay attention.

Perhaps if they gave us something on the Display & Graphics tab of the Config menu to modify this:

- type: TriFloatParameter
name: "NebulaBrightness"
value: 1.00

It can be a huge tactical advantage to attack with the nebulae at your back.

Nebula blindess

I don't might it being bright, but I should still be able to clearly see the UI when playing. This picture shows the problem with Nebulas (in Domain)

EDIT: You know how this will be addressed? Make sure the next alliance tournament is done in on of these bright nebula areas and wait for everybody to complain about not being able to see anything.

Maybe some of that gets lost in the SS, because the UI is visible (You cut bits off so can't see the full effect) and it's not particularly bright.

I've never had any of these problems and can see my modules perfectly fine regardless of the nebulae backdrop. Turn a damn light on in your house once in a while ;)

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

It's a stealth hisec nerf. Lower sec systems have less bright nebulae.

More options to tweak graphics are never a bad thing.

That being said, you could also simply adjust your monitor settings... or turn off Bloom and possibly HDR.

I mention monitor settings because many folks simply crank them to max brightness, color temp settings, etc. and don't give them a second thought if some things end up being over saturated later.

I can't say I've ever felt overloaded by the nebulae in deadspaces, but it's certainly annoying that I CAN'T SEE SH*T because there's this cloud that completely obscures my view. So much for the great visuals of Eve; half the time they're nothing but a washed-out nebula.

I will agree that some of the particle clouds in certain missions or near (for example) outside the Emperor Family station in Amarr need some work. There is still a fairly noticable frame rate hit, and can obscure not only your view of your surroundings (which is understandable) but can also obsure your modules.

To me that is more in need of adjustment than the Nebulae.

Yeah, I suppose I should distinguish that I'm not talking about the new backgrounds. I haven't even noticed those hardly.

Deadspace particle clouds shouldn't exist at all. They serve no purpose but to obscure view and be annoying.

yeah for some reason yours is much brighter than mine then again I was more worried about getting shot by the police in that area than the clouds.

I'll keep an eye out for a good photo, Nova Fox. Floppie & Ranger1 also brought up a significant point about the particle clouds... those are at issue here too. To make our point another way, you CANNOT adjust anything to do with the background unless you dim the entire user interface, including potentially critical information in local, fleet, or corp channels.
You guys are great, thanks for all the input.

Some of the mission/sig/anomaly sites are tastefully done.

Others have eleventy billion gas cloud billboard sprites blooming with the brightness of 10,000 suns. They're interspersed with horrible copy-paste z-plane clipping cargo-rig charlie foxtrots because some designer on crack decided to create a replica of Voltron using Blood Raider bunkers. ...All of which combine to give you 10 frames per second. How those get approved and go live is beyond me, that's amateur hour nonsense.
