Hi everyone,

I have just started playing eve and wanted to know how a mission/quest is created?

I guess from previous MMO's it was always my experience that missions where all unique. I am finding that I have been offered the same mission [by different agents] more than three or four times. Is this normal?

Do I have to fly further away, are they generated by area, galaxy, whatever?

I am only doing level one mission atm, perhaps this does not occur at higher levels?

Thanks and sorry if this question is too noob.

Haplo.

Hi,

missions come in levels one to five and each level has it's own set of missions. This set is not very big unfortunately so the longer you fly them the more often you will encounter the same again and again. They are the same for each agent so changing location doesnt help. They spawn randomly in a defined area of x jumps from the agent you applied to.

If you want some diversity, there are one epic arc (lvl 4) for each faction with a chain of missions with a nice reward at the end, complex missions which you can only complete once and pirate storyline missions which take place in lowsec and are kinda like epic arcs for frigates.

Hi

Yes that is normal. I used to run missions and you regurarly encounter the same missions, in rare cases I also had the same mission twice.

This website should help you in your missioning and also anwser some of your questions:

Missions variate between mission types, agent levels and factions so while the total number of different missions in EVE is fairly high, you will always be limited to a much smaller sub set with a particular agent.

The above posters have pretty much answered your questions but I'll just add a couple of comments. You'll find out soon that missions are the worst form of PvE you've ever experienced in any game. I'd recommend running missions for a while to get used to creating decent fits.. Optimising your dps and tanking etc but then you should look to move either to incursions or exploration. Exploration is the most fun and varying PvE content (with the possibility/inevitability of PvP).. But if you're just looking for something steady and easy then just go incursions.

Best of luck to you!

P.S. If you want to ultimately do PvP, start going out there and doing it now. Don't get caught in the hole that goes "I need a steady stream of ISK to PvP".. You can easily make ISK out in low/null with a decent corp so just get out there asap :)
