Hey all, I've got 22m SP but I haven't played in a long time. Anyway, I fly a dominix in PVE and want to do level 4 missions to make ISK, however the problem I'm having is....

I have level 4 brutor tribe missions as my corp is based there, however I find most are angels and they sit at 3000 km at which my weapons and sentry drones all miss. Is there anything I can do, or should I just re level with a different agent?

hope you can help :)

Running security missions with minmatar agents in minmatar space will get you a fair few anti-angels missions. That's life for the matari PvE warrior.

I'm not sure if you're trolling (more fool me if that's the case) but no mission NPCs sit at 3000km. None that I have met even sit at 300km, and 30km shouldn't be a major problem. Generally, in my experience, angels rats have tended to want to get up close and personal ... with those NPC machariels chasing you all over the place.

I guess, in general terms, if your problem is that the rats are too far away from you, you could:
- fit prop mods (AB, MWD) to move yourself quickly closer to the rats.
- change to longer range weapon systems such as HMLs, non-sentry drones, cruise missiles, artillery etc. I don't use sentries, but thought that T2 sentries delivered damage at pretty reasonable range.

I guess I am almost a 'vet' by now. Hopefully not too bitter and managing to help more than I hinder. I build and sell many things, including large collections of bookmarks.

For the sake of a reasonable discussion, let's just assume he meant 3000m, not km.

Anyway, if OP is of the sentry drone using kind, I would probably suggest that he should look for a different agent - generally speaking, if you're levelled heavily in gallente skills, gallente space is the place to be.

Hi guys, yes sorry 3000-5000 - basically I always miss! So I should go back to gallente space?

ahhhh, yes. Do'oh!!

I was thinking of too-far-away, when he was prolly having trouble because too-close-to-track.

Surely then the answer for a gallente-dude is to swap to blasters and mobile drones. My T2 heavies appear to have no great difficulty killing in-close frigates, and mediums even less.

If its 3000m and you are missing because they are close and you cannot track:

Hammerheads for the cruisers.
T2 Gardes for better tracking of the battleships.
Gallente web: 60% speed reduction and thus tracking requirements.
Blasters instead of rails.

Also some will fly away from their sentries. The NPCs follow you, getting far enough away from the sentries that they can track.

Hey there, I am training T2 heavies but it'll be a good while yet. About 2 weeks. If I go to Gallente space, if they hacve longer range rats then I can deal with those no problem.

Suck in the Sentries, toss out the Beserkers when they get close.

I have had no issue running them with a fairly standard dual rep Domi and the right drone mix and some remote armor reps.

Have fun.

Try poppng the frigs first, sentry's will, depending on skills, insta pop them. I used to run with 2 omni directionals and the garde's would insta pop them out at round 40km all the way in to just under 20km. Those that got through were left till last and then just switch to light drones.

As was said already, use sentries while they are at range, heavies when they are close.

Personally, I tried a blaster fit for some time but was not really happy with it since it´s use is so very limited (very short range and tracking issues). Ultimately, I found it more efficient to use rails to support my sentries blowing battleships up quicker, then completely switch to heavies to clean up those that got too close.

Berserkers and bouncers are the answer to all things Minmatar in a Dominix.

In your case, berserkers, with blasters for extra fun. (And yes, overall rails tend to be better for the Domi as nothing ever gets close to you anyhow, but this is one of those situations where blasters are what you need).

Have fun.

Bouncer II have plenty of range.

With a 375 m3 drone bay:

* 6x Bouncer II [150 m3]
* 6x Garde II or Ogre II [150 m3]
* 5x Hammerhead II [50 m3]
* 5x Hobgoblin II [25 m3]

If you insist on using a domi for missions, buy a second Domi, put blasters on it and use ogres(or whichever heavy drone is best versus angels) for the angel missions. You could even throw a web or two on it.

I used to run missions in a sentry Domi, and I remember Angels giving me trouble by orbiting in close.

I replaced my two omnis with webs, and my rails with blasters. When ships are approaching you with zero angular, you don't need the omnis to hit them. Once they're in close, web them to death and the sentries will still hit. As will your blasters.

The only thing that gave me trouble were the elite frigates that like to orbit outside web range. Wouldn't hurt to carry a flight of heavies or even mediums for these.

Hey all,
Sorry for yhe delayed response - Haven't had access to the forums for a while.

I have followed your advice and started using Blasters with Garde sentries, and my hammerheads for the cruisers whilst webbing them and have started to chew through them quickly.

I should also imagine that once I can use the T2 sentries and T2 blasters I will have an easier time of these missions?

Since you already have Gallente BS trained, train up Minmatar BS and then get a Macherial. Shouldn't take too long
