The goons do a great job correcting the isk-to-IQ ratio.

Behold, everyone! Words of wisdom from the cream of the Goon crop.

The last thing a competent and clever spy determined to cause damage would do is apply to GoonWaffe with a character created years ago. A proper spy would begin by joining the Something Awful forums, familiarizing themselves with the hambeasts' insular, self-congratulatory forum culture, and would then proceed to create regular "quality posts" for a period of many months (up to a year or more) in order to ingratiate themselves with the SA community.

This wouldn't be hard to do. Typical SA forum threads, humor projects (such as their themed image "contests" or someone photographing each step of a zany science experiment), and front-page articles are less interesting and humorous than 1980s-era The Far Side calendars, while also managing to be less relevant than The Onion. I'm being generous.

The try-hard factor of Something Awful is truly a wonder of the Internet. Suffering through such nonsense just to gain the Goons' acceptance and sabotage them in a computer game would require real dedication.

Next, the potential spy must appear to have learned about the Goons' involvement in EVE naturally, as though it were any other game mentioned on their forums (which, to a genuine new SA poster, it would be). This would be the most delicate part of the process, and a light touch would be ideal. He may not even discuss EVE on the SA forum at all before applying.

Once accepted, time, patience and actual social/manipulative skills would be required to inflict significant damage to the Goons. As a group, Goons actually are fairly bright people. In fact, as EVE players, I like them. I hate their forums, but as a bunch of dorky hambeasts playing a computer game, they're all right.

Point is though, all this paranoid garbage and fuss about small-time awoxers and intel-passers is just that, garbage and fuss. It won't save you from a smart, dedicated spy or a disgruntled (or bored) turncoat.

Oh, the other positive is that you remain a proud non-member of goons. You might be an idiot but at least you still have your soul and integrity. P

I personally can't wait for the day that either all of EVE declares war on goons until they are gone/dead or someone is paid tons of ISK to do to them what they did to BOB. forget to pay the billz and are disbanded.

According to what I can read on our awesome secret websites, holy **** are you late. On all counts.

It is actually. It's just as safe as highsec, except that I get to make 50 million an hour just from salvaging in a Thrasher and 500 million a month AFK thank to nullsec PI and Goon custom offices. Enjoy paying taxes, peasants. Also, it's three jumps to anywhere thanks to the jump bridge network. What were you saying again?

and some people wonder why there is so much hate between null and high sec, you can be casual in both but without the social network you stick to high sec and pay for the null seccers (no.... plex are not dropped by null rats).

I am not a goon hater, they earned what they got with a lot of organization. But I am not sure if this ISK cliff is the best for EVE in general. It would be interesting to see some stats of how many accounts in EVE belong to NPC or small corps (under 20) and how that changed over the last two years.

Goons will never be for me as EVE is a game I play for fun only and has a lower priority in my life, but I enjoy playing, sometimes more and sometimes less, RL first :)

P.S. and I will not post with my main because I learned the hard way that some people take this game far to serious and can not separate between ingame and the forum.

If quality posting was a requirement for Goonwaffe membership the corp would have about three people in it and two of them would be spies.

Right because Goons are known throughout the Eve universe for how seriously we take the game. :cripes:

The thing is that i'm not that much of an hardcore EVE player... Yeah, this char is quite old, but i had a lot of breaks, and I kind of always played alone XD
Also, being used to other MMO's, I'm not used to google everything that is being said to me, fearing that it is a scam. About being a spy... I was contacted from them, in the recruitment channel... And I think that if everyone that had failed once has to be a spy, we ALL would be spies, or almost ;)
But that's it, even if it hasn't been a huge loss for me, It's still 3.25 free billions in Goonswarm Federation's wallet, so I clearly deserve every insult that has been addressed to me in this thread XD

This still has been quite a good eyeopener for me anyways, thanks everyone :)

Can't believe that still works after all these years. Might have to start trying it myself. My corp may have no major accomplishments but the name is cool, that's worth maybe 10 percent no?

Edit: Max, please contact me about joining a corporation. We are in null(non sov)and have lots of good fights. Probably after getting your feet wet with us the goons will take a second look at you and you might get in :)

If the OP had done their homework, they'd realise there's people clamouring to join the Goons all the time. They don't need to ask people to join them. If you're approached by a Goon actively asking you to join, then you're being scammed. It's that obvious.

If the OP is being honest(which would be a dubious assumption) then he is probably correct that the Goons broke a rule.

I really dont see CCP having the balls to stand up to Mittani(or any other CSM) at this point however.

But Mittani is harmless. He is a super carebear.
Altho you cant really blaim Goonwaffe for this as much as i despise Goons they do give you a great chuckle every now and then.
This guy is lucky it was only 6.5B 6.5B can be made in 1 month of ratting in 00.

If your stupid enough to give a corp isk that you want to join then your stupid enough to get scammed.

it was just 3.25b. they asked for 6.5b, but at that point the loss would have been... well, noticeable, at least

Your better off paying an alliance like Pandemic Legion that much to join them. Heck least from them you'd actually learn something.

Only thing you could possibly learn from Goon's is. How to loose Braincells.
