I have spend the last 2 days thinking about this and so far this is what i have thought up.

1 - remove min drops from Drones.

2 - Turn all items dropped from wrecks into Damaged versions of the mods that take Mins to rebuild.

3 - Ban T2 mining/ice ships from High sec.

4 - Remove everything but Trit from high-sec mining belts and put it inside of scanning sites in high sec.

5 - Turn all none high-sec mining belts in to scanning sites that move around there constellations.

6 - Remove all Ice belts and add them as Comets that move around there region. As in when its depleted it respawns in a different system in the same region.

If you have any questions, quote the part and i will explain it some more and the reason behind it.

1. They're already looking into it/working on it

2. Why? I'm not seeing any beneficial effects beyond screwing with mineral prices.

3. Why? That would be a completely arbitrary ruling (many mining bots are in the middle of nowhere in 0.0 anyways).

4/5. Not the worst idea I've ever seen, but then it requires miners to train up other skills just to be able to ply their trade. And anyone running bots would simply probe out a site and sic the bots on it.

6. Pretty much the same as 4/5

This thread seems to have a bit of the "selling the car to buy gas" in it. Please explain how exactly your proposed changes would affect botters and the mineral market itself. What I read sounds like it would attempt to both kill bots (in highsec only though, not where they're the worst) and make it more difficult for real miners who just want to chill and make a bit of ISK. If these things happened, I would expect a massive upswing in the prices of everything in the game and an overall decrease of Eve as a whole.

How about if we start with 1, which is reasonable and already in the works, and see how the mineral market reacts to that and work from there.

The Min to repair repair damaged mods, is simply to remove the the getting mins faster from running L4s and reprocessing than mining. i have done it its true, and to put the gathering of mins back on the MINERS, and not ratters or mission runners.

Meh, i can live with out 3 as well. but it came about as a way to slow down the high sec mining bots, if there forced to use crap mining barges to AFK crap amounts of velspar in high-sec belts becouse there to lazy to scan sites to sick there fleet on it wouldn't hurt my me any.

4,5,and 6 yea but them if its forcing the botter to sit there and scan new sites ever 30 or 40 mins he might as well be a normal multiboxer, and training up scanning skills for find grav sites is only about a days training.

i was really thinking all these ideas to improve the play stile of mining, and make it more of a social group thing.

a scanner going ahead of the mining fleet finding sites

a mining fleet going around mining them

a hauler group hauling the mins back to home base.

and the indy guys building stuff or the market guys selling it on the market, or your just dumping it on the market as you go.

Forget about trying to make it harder for botters. Just think about making it a better experience for actual players.

This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

This. I'm not sure where the balance should be between having something to do and letting the semi-AFK-watching-a-movie miners still do it too, but I'm sure there's a middle ground.

And to the OP, I think the removal of drone minerals will pretty much fix your first point; there'll be some minerals from lvl 4s still, but that actually got a pretty major nerf last year or so and isn't such an issue now. The main non-mining source of minerals is from drone drops, and that's being looked into.

And what you're proposing might encourage group mining if people have the group, but it would also severely disadvantage anyone who just wants to semi-AFK mine while they're watching TV or doing school work (which is a large portion of them). Great care should be taken to avoid alienating the current miners.

besides the scanning part its really not changing how mining works.

instead of log, on warp to belt, /afk mine

its

log on, scan down mining site, warp to site , /afk mine

its not like 5 or 6 make there be any less of it available, then just make it move around.
