As the best PvP MMO to hit the market. A thread was created that asked what the best pvP MMO was and almost eveyrone had this game on the list. i find it incredible that I have been playing this game since 2003. SWTOR lasted around 1 month until I grew bored due to a lack of the player influenced environment that this game has to offer. What a gem that this game is guys...

This is very true. Eve has pretty much ruined all other MMOs for me.

Eve is unique and that is why its playerbase loves it so much and sticks with it even when things are rough.

It ruined every other MMO for me as well. This game sets the bar on so many levels...

The reason EVE PvP puts all the rest to shame is here, the players dictate the terms. Where most games the mechanics do this. It would be nice if CCP could manage a way to uproot some of the legacy ditatorial establishments without corrupting the fundamental way players operate but untill both can be achieved they do nothing and I support them on that.

Looking at how alot of games that tried to clone EVE fell on thier face in a burning fire, I don't blame other games for going the sane route and putting in obligatory cookie cutter PvP but I wouldn't change EVE for all the light sabers in the world.

Most games go the themepark route. I prefer the sandbox route. the best end game is NO ENDGAME.

I like it because its not about having the best stuffs.
a frigate can kill a cruiser, but in wow a lvl 70 couldn't kill a lvl 80 ( unless the 80 was lol)

there is also no defined "build" there are pvp and pve fits, but there are hundreds? thousands? millions? of PVP fits and the same for PVE fits.
how many ways can you pvp fit a t3 cruiser and still be viable in at least 1 situation? its amazing to see what people come up with.

Another thing I love is the killmail system. So much intel on the enemy ship I have fun getting in my enemies head wondering why they fit that way or what they were going for. I also love having a permanent record of all the Battles I have ever fought to be looked back on and remembered.

I never really bothered with any other of the major MMO's, none of them appealed to me like EVE did. I visited the WoW website and felt a little ill looking at the bright colours. Screw that.

WoW holds your hand until end game, and gives you a cookie whether you win or lose. EVE not only takes your cookie, but laughs at you for bringing one in the first place...

I like the fact that there are so many classes that over lap other classes in eve but do it diferantly. want a ton of DPS get a mega or mailstrum, want a ton of DPS but with the abilitys of a ninja, you have the stealth bomber. want to be a ninja that can sudenly make your 2 BCs friends able to take out 4 BC enemys with ease, jump in a falcon.

The ship is not but the tears are real. You can actually lose a fight, not just be 2nd. And you can't really win if you can't lose.

If you take all the sand out of the box, only the cat poo will remain.

Pretty much - I don't even actively play, but I rather spend my sub on not playing Eve than giving any of the other so called 'MMOs' a try - they're single player games with multiplayer lobbies for a couple of instanced Coop and PvP maps.

It doesn't have a player run economy, uses multiple parallel servers and parallel instances within them, has a single-player-like levelling system and death has no consequence?

Not interested - after having played Eve, all these games are not even MMOs for me...

SWOTR pvp is horrible. Is that even considered PVP??? I played the game for about 2 weeks cuz star wars is cool then it became more boring than running missions(something I don't do) in eve.

Eve is the first MMO I played, everyone I've tried after eve just doesn't do it for me. What's the point of PVP'n if you can't take and/or lose stuff? SWOTR pvp is forced to be "fair", which isn't fair at all.

Die in star wars = no loss, unless u consider running back to where u were a loss.

Another thought, in eve if you have 100 million skill points there is still a reason to bust out with a frigate or cruiser, in star wars(and games like it) there's never a reason to use lvl 20 pvp gear when you are lvl 50, and worst of all, no matter what happens you'll never lose your gear.

Not to mention the mostly free market system eve has that impacts all things in the game.

Whatever.

I plan on living forever.......so far, so good.

Ultima Online was my first MMO and since then I have always loved there being a consequence to dying. This is some that very few games do and even fewer get it right. Eve and UO were the best at it. Compared to these two most other MMO's seem lower than the set bar.

EVE reminds me alot of Pre-age of shadows UO in that its not about what you have but how you use things. It's that challenge that keeps me playing.

Other MMOs ? Hu ? What the hell are you talking about ?
I only know one MMO. The rest are just generic games with a few more people in them.

It's the realization of the masses of why EVE is not for everyone.

The next realization comes when the masses 'grow up,' join the fold, and suddenly don't want the masses changing their game into the bland MMO Soup that is EVERY OTHER GAME OUT THERE.
