Gank whenever possible,; and if you are lazy with me, have a drone boat with a tank capable of withstanding enough punishment while you laze around, and a gunboat to do as much dps as possible. If you arent lazy; use two gunboats.

Clear now?

Why not use guns on a Droneboat, such as the mighty Domi and apply DMG like it was meant to?

1) 500 DPS Guns
2) 500 DPS Drones
3) Killspeed
4) ?
5) Profit

This is true, but I feel if you are gonna use two ships and focus on them you will want as much dps out of those guns that you can squeeze; hence, use two nightmares/two machs/two vindies/combination of the two

You dont want a tank and a gank ship as has been suggested, thats a silly idea.. if you are gonna run the same mission with two toons you will want one toon that you would fly a typical mission ship with, and one toon that can tank hard without sacrificing its main source of gank.

This means your second toon would typically need to be a drone ship. (Missile and gunships take too much multitasking).

This means;
(In order of what is best)

Myrm
Ishtar/Gila
Dominix
Navy Dominix
Rattlesnake!

...I rinse a rattlesnake and a nightmare... The snake isnt overtanked (has omnidirectionals and sentry drone augmentors); means it throws out decent support DPS and I dont have to worry about the ship too much.

The nightmare does a great job, its range projection is just amazing, no better mission ship.... Two in duo would probably outperform my current setup (in other words... always go for as much gank as you can micromanage)

mmmm so you saying running a tank tengu which can tank whole rooms with a 700 dps omni tank that does over 500 dps with scourge and over 600 with fury is a bad idea??? I can guarantee that a tengu as a second ship will outperform any on your best list. Remember paper dps is not a practical way to compare. i have run a gila and a RS and my current duo does t better. But I guess everyone plays differently and I hate micromanaging drones, cap, etc. and yes my tengu is cap stable.. oh the horror

Guns have tracking and optimal and all that to worry about, so that 500 is not constant, and no it will not be constant on a missile boat either, it just means less management on a missile boat, you don't have to switch between long and short range ammo. You also don't have to worry about your drones being popped on a Tengu while you switching screens... if you get ecm'd in a tengu you switch to FOF, slightly less dps btu it still works, you also don't suffer from tracking disruption, and yes.. I LOVE my tengu Twisted. Don't think there is a right or wrong way, its a play style that suits, and I have tried many combinations.

Hello spacemen,

Im looking for some advice on the best 2 man ship combo to do level 4 missions with.

I normally run them with a dual armor rep ishtar solo but with my mate I was thinking we could maybe get more dps into the action to run them quicker.

He can fly mostly caldari/gallente BS and down ships but he could always buy a toon if it came to the crunch.
I can fly BS down gallente.

Throw me your ideas or advice.

thank you please.

As much DPS as you can get, in level 4 missions, tank becomes nearly irrelevant once you dish out enough dps, just fit a few mission specific hardeners and one rep and you should be fine IF you are doing 2 x 800 paper dps. Your DPS can be your main tank, and if you keep the ishtar your speed can tank anyway most stuff in l4s,

Remove insurance.

Already said but, 2 Tengus, especially in caldari space.

Mostly due to the range that they can apply dps, and that dps is great. There are others that do more dps, and if you dont mind zipping around the pocket then by all means. About the only draw back is volley counting, tho frankly one wasted volley on a target here and there is a none factor.

Don't forget that a good Tengu with implants has only about 30 less DPS than a CNR which means way more applied DPS. The CNR is actually a pretty bad ship all around :| its just the natural progression so a lot of people go with it.

The OP is already flying an ishtar so I gues he has good drone skills.

I`d say use Logi-Domi(takes aggro) + shield BS max DPS also a cap chain between them is a good idea too.
This way u can tank domi and keep ure DPS BS alive even if things go wrong and it takse a lot of aggro.

with good fit u can bring over 1400DPS and apply it very efficiently.

Two Nightmares. One is more than capable enough of solo'ing a lvl 4, imagine the pwnage with two side by side..

To answer your specific circumstances, keep the Ishtar and supplement it with a rail Rokh, a viable option since the hybrid buff. Or perhaps a rail Mega, or even Hyperion. Flexibility is a ***** eh?

The Gaming MoD - retro to modern, console to MMO, I blog about it if it's a game and I'm interested in it. Yes, I play games other than Eve and I don't care if you think I'm wrong.
