WH Pos question(s)

So I just moved into a wormhole with some guys. The one thing I have always hated about wormholes and the lack of security when it comes to storing items and ships in POS's.

Soo, I was considering setting up my own POS. Being in a C5, I realize for best defense, a Large tower is recommended, however, for the moment, I'd only need to store a couple of ships.

Would putting up a Large tower for the sole purpose of storage even be worth it? I was almost considering just putting up a small tower with no mods and just throwing in an SMA and CHA in it and when it gets attacked, just move it to the corps main POS. That would atleast minimise the time my ships would be at risk in a public SMA.

1. How long can a small tower be reinforced for?
2. Any estimates on POS operation costs? (Think I read 100/200/400m somewhere)
3. Any different suggestions? (I am pretty bad at know stuff about Towers, so I am probably missing something)

any tower can be reinforced for a maximum of 1 day 17 hours. Smaller towers just require less stront to reach that point. On that note, small pos's go down REALLY fast, and if the attackers are smart and are trying to actually kick you out of the WH, they will put a cage of anchorable bubbles around the POS so you can't warp in or out, preventing you from rescuing your ships. But if they are just doing a drive by to reinforce it for "giggles" then you won't really need to worry about it.

As far as POS operation costs go, before the fuel blocks were introduced, a large tower took about 85mil/week, a med tower about 50mil/week, and a small tower around 30mil/week to run. This has probably changed since the introduction of the fuel blocks, but now it is nice and easy - look up the cost of a fuel block from your favorite place to purchase, multiply by 168, then multiply by 10/20/40 for small, med, or large tower.

All this being said, anyone with the POS manager role in your corp will be able to enter your tower anyways, even if you password it. IIRC, being able to access the ship maintenence array requires the POS manager role. Someone else will be sure to correct me if I am wrong about this, but I don't think that this is the solution that you are looking for...

Perhaps I should get myself an orca alt for this loo I was thinking the password would work. Surely I can find a way around my trust issues.

This is in part correct. Your CEO, all directors and anyone with the POS manager role may access the tower - they may not be able to access all of the divisions in the tower's arrays however (well the CEO and the directors will) but here is the kicker - you only get access to whatever the corp gives you access to.

Any ship that goes into a wormhole should be written off as a loss the moment you jump through. After that it's all fun and games. Think like that and dropping ships into the POS hangar won't seem particularly painful (your ship is already a loss anyhow).

Oh and... trust works both ways. If you cannot trust your corp to keep your ship safe in their hangar, how can you trust them when the slugs starts flying all over space? And... how can they trust you?

Heh, greed is a hell of a driving force. Put something shiny enough in a public SMA, and it WILL get stolen. IMO, no one can really be fully trusted.

Maybe I'll see about creating my own corp and just having it join the alliance.
