The difference between other MMOs and EVE is that the other MMOs are games.

I don't have time for games.

my account expires in 10 days after 6 years play.

I moved to plex to pay for it a long time ago so i dont have to worry about accidental resub.

I sunk all my ISK into plex which im going to keep in my hangar.

im going to give it as long as I can before i resub - simply put I cant justify 10 pounds a month on a game im only logging into to make sure my skill is going. I also cant justify half a billion ISK every 30 days just to make sure my skill is training.

Im not a bitter vet - there is no real reason why im quitting - not trying to make a statement or anything I just cant be bothered any more.

i like to imagine I will log back in in a years time but something tells me it will probably be less than a month before im back in the training queue heh!

uh...let's see...slip out the back, Jack. Make a new plan, Stan. Don't need to be coy, Roy. Just listen to me. Hop on the bus, Gus. Don't need to discuss much. Just drop off the key, Lee, and get yo'seff free.

We must accommodate the idiocracy.

There must be, 50 ways to leave your EvE.

I lol'd. Okay, it was more of a derisive snort, but it's the thought that counts, right?

When i get bored of Eve, I play WoW. When I get bored of WoW, I play Eve. Sometimes (like now, for instance), it's a threeway. I enjoy them both for their own merits, and curse them both for their limitations. Lately, the PS3 has been thrown into the mix. Oh, such a decadent lifestyle I live.

I quit for couple years because it was interfering with work and family, just came back. I switched to console games for while cause their easy to just put a quick 15 minutes into. But there is no satisfaction from them compared to eve. No risk, you'l just respawn. I work for every bit of isk so when I pvp I still get that adrenaline rush that I havn't found in any other game. Now I just have to set aside the appropriate time for it.

If you really want to quit eve though, seriously, just send 100M to me I have a plan......

It's true, you can't really go back to grinding after persistent skill training unless you enjoyed it to begin with. I've quit several times, it's more about getting away from games entirely.

Yup yup. Candy corn and cotton candy MMO's everywhere. Swing your virtual arm 5,000,000 more times until your fingers bleed to gain another level or to get that really special piece of gear because you cant do anything else at all to get it.

Nothing out there rivals Eve in complexity or an open ended experience. We arent just sitting their in our chairs drooling all over our keyboards while playing Eve. Eve makes us think and whatever we can think of is what we can pretty much do.

That reason and because us players create most of the content by our own actions is really what keeps us coming back.

Unfortunately, the lack of content when noone wants to interact ( get blown up or blow you up among other things ) is what ultimately has us seeking another MMO. Afterall, there's only so many missions you can run, asteroids you can mine, or anomalies you can scan out before it gets seriously tedious.

I do hope another MMO comes out that is as open ended as Eve but I doubt it will. Most people pay their RL isk to be treated like their bottoms are golden in game. Eve treats them a bit more harshly, which is probably why we dont have 10million subscribers.

I am stopping as well. I have been playing skyrim and despite playing AI, the depth is an example of what this game lacks.

Yeah, totally.

Even games that are not MMOs are a bit of a let down, like Skyrim which makes you open a Steam account (pc version, no idea on the other formats) before you can play it.

The gaming industry just gets worse as time goes by, I'll probably just give up gaming in the not too distant future.

Still, been a gamer for over 30 years so maybe it is time to spend more time attending to RL.

I found Skyrim, to be a bit of a let down. They've jumped on the same band-wagon as other companies in relationship to content.

Even their perks points goes against what made Morrowind great as a game.

After two month approx of playing Skyrim I was finding it was just becoming boring, might as well have been WoW.

It's not all bad some of the fights can be good, but they do get repetitve, plus the dragons can be a pain especially when they keep turning up.

I still don't know why I keep my sub up.

I play games for the community, which has it's ups and downs.

This exact time last year in an old corp, you would always see me online. Since the CEO turned into Hitler, I left that corp.
Now? I only go online for the occasional grind/salvage runs, and the once a week skill que poke.
No one is on TS, and I can see tumbleweeds rolling by. (literally, I actually seen a tumbleweed roll down my street last week!)

So I agree to disagree with OP here...

It's dull and boring, but with the right people, it can be very fun and entertaining...

Just hunt for a Corp with people that matches you and your gameplay...

The impression i got from eve, and the reason i started playing eve, was the absolute brutal, boundless pirating and pillaging.

It seemed like a Diablo in a sea of WOW.

A no-**** game where you had the freedom to do absolutely anything, and it was up to other players to wrangle in the pirates.

Sadly, WOW is contagious, and seems to have crossed species into eve... with new rules such as 'not allowed to scam people that recruit in Recruitment'... the 'afk cloaker' whiners, the anti-bubble kiddos, concord-immediatly, makemyshipimmuneinhighsecblahblahblah

Eve is a victem of its success. it was a novel idea, became popular, and now flooded with 'popular' ideas, like hammering highsec lvl4's all day long

EVE is far beyond any MMO out there, when I give up EVE it's only temporary and it's usually for some sort of eSport oriented game, so right now I'm just skilling while playing Dota 2 for example. The EVE community and the endless options makes EVE the best MMO

EVE was my first and will be my last MMO. I played them all in between my beginning and now though. I liked Ryzom and Entropia Universe a lot until it got "updated" a couple years ago.

Long live EVE and CCP!!
