Hello,

I am a beginner in this game. In the few days I've played Eve, many questions popped up. I'd like if you could awnser as many as you can so that I can have a better understanding of the game

Here they are:

1: What does the standing with an Agent changes? Better rewards? More time for the bonus?
2: What's the difference between doing missions for let's say caldari steel and an other one? Are the LP rewards different? If so, how do I know which corp gives the best rewards for trade/hauling/combat etc.
3: I have 2 command centers: One storm and one temperate. The storm gives me much more profit than the temperate one (Metal something vs biofuel) Is it because certain type of planets are just way better than the others?
4: As I underestands it exploration requires 2 ship: A ship with probes bonuses geared for finding sites and an other one geared for actually going to those sites. Is that right? If so, what is a good rookie ship to go to those sites?
5: What are drones, and in which slot do they fit?
6: Are highsec suicide gankers a common problem I should worry about or is it fairly rare?
7: What the difference between level 2 courier and level 1 courier? Possible ambushes or just heavier loads?

Thank you for your time

1: As far as I'm aware they just send you on less jumps the higher your standing with them. I'm about 9 with my agent and he rarely sends me out of the system.

2: Different LP rewards, which you can check out here http://www.ellatha.com/eve/LP_Stores.asp Not really worth worrying about until you're ready for lvl 4 missions though and often access to an agent in 0.5 space with no lowsec nearby is more important than the LP rewards, depending on your priorities.

3: I don't do PI, but the planets have all got individual ratings for the richness of their resources. It could be that you've just got a storm planet with really good hotspots for what you're extracting and your temperate one doesn't.

4: Not sure about exploration sites. Pretty sure that to start with that you will need your race's exploration frigate with the bonuses along with the best combat frigate or cruiser fitted with a salvager or codebreaker. After you've been rattling around a while a strategic cruiser like the Tengu would be the best all in one. Here's a rough guide, there are more detailed ones out there: http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Exploring

5: Drones are autonomous fighter craft. Nearly all ships have a drone bay of differing sizes into which you fit your drones. There are different types of drones including mining, electronic warfare and sniper drones, but unless you decide to move into drones fully and use a ship with bonuses to drone damage you'll mostly stick to light scout drones. They're used to kill frigates, and as you move up into cruisers, then battlecruisers and battleships your own ships ability to hit frigates drops like a rock. If you end up running lvl 4 missions with a BS then you will need Tech II light scout drones or you'll never kill any frigates in the mission.

6: Suicide gankers don't generally gank for the hell of it. Unless you're sitting in an untanked mining barge they can pop with frigates, of course. Usually you're safe unless you either **** somebody off enough to gank you or you're likely to make a gank profitable. Never shift valuable goods in an industrial, it's too easy to tip the balance and make what you drop worth more than they'd lose after insurance. Likewise if you get into mission running and fit your ship out with the most expensive mods, then you're basically flying a shiny loot pinata and may attract a gank.

7: Heavier loads. Courier's aren't worth actively doing for the ISK though, they're better for building standings with a corp or for a low income when you're doing something else.

In addition to what was already said:

1. Better standing makes ISK rewards better (both main reward and bonus reward).

2. Main difference for me is the agents each corporation has. I like to do combat missions, so I want to work for corporation which has many security agents in all levels, e.g. Caldari Navy.

4. You don't need a ship with probe bonuses to find sites. It will make it little bit faster and easier specially when your probe support skills are not maxed out yet but it's in now way necessary.

Now this doesn't mean that the notion that you will need 2 ships (or 1 ship where you switch fittings) for exploration is wrong but it's not based on the ability to find sites but the ability to run them. To be able to find and run all sites (not including mining and gas mining) you need a ship that can tank very well, do lots of dps and have a Salvager, Analyzer, Codebreaker and Probe Launcher.

The combination of all those things are just not possible. So you will either have to have 2+ ships or 1 ship where you can switch out fittings depending on the need. Or you can run 2 accounts.

- It is interesting the things you learn even after playing this game for years. I never realized that standing affected how often the agent sends you out of system. Good to know. Although i rarely run missions any more. But generally standing with your agent and the npc corporation is something you want to build up to get to the next level of missions from that corp. Once you get to a certain standing level with a corp you can begin running the level 4 missions which are the bread and butter for serious mission runner money making (there are level 5s in low sec/null sec but thats a whole other story)

2: What's the difference between doing missions for let's say caldari steel and an other one? Are the LP rewards different? If so, how do I know which corp gives the best rewards for trade/hauling/combat etc.

- Generally it is best to focus on one corporation to get your standings high enough to use the level 4 missions and make the most money. All of the caldari standing npc corps are going to probably have the same things in the LP store. Now with Pirate missions you might want to look at the rewards first before deciding on which one to run.

- Suicide gankers are not rare but they tend to look for specific types of targets. Yes, they could target a mission runner but unless you are flying something incredibly expensive it is unlikely. The most common suicide gankers favor hulks because they are easy to kill, static targets, and are worth a couple of hundred million at least. Occasionally a faction fit one can be worth quite a lot.
