Why is this a "feature"?

So after you get podded, you get this message when attempting to undock:

"You need to board a ship in order to undock! If you do not possess one, you can search the market for a new one."

May I ask Why this is a necessary feature of the game?
Why wont it let me undock in a pod?
If I want to undock in a pod, should I not be able to?

I think the only time I've seen that message was a starter mission. Petition 'stuck'

This message brought to you by Experience(tm). When common sense fails you, experience will come to the rescue. Experience(tm) from the makers of CONCORD.

For some reason, after being podded you aren't even in a pod. So undocking would be a bad thing....

Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Sometimes when I post, I look at my sig and wish that I'd follow my own god damned advice.

Well, after being podded you're dead and then your doppelganger takes over, unless you explain to me how to transfer consciousness, which I will then use in real life.

Trashed your rookie ship, didn't you?

If you are in the CQ after being killed, and you don't see a pod in "ships", and then trash that rookie ship, you're stuck, or buy a new ship, assemble it, make it active, and you will be in a pod.

If you don't have ISK to buy a ship, you might have to turn tricks in the station for a while.

Exactly the way I see is the ship is the actual item that generates the pod in order for you to board it. No pod, no boarding. If you trash your rookie ship prior to generating your pod you are SOL, especially if there are no ships in station.
