Game crashes (exits w/o error message) or just hangs on the screen requiring a force quit.

Since Crucible v1.1, including v1.1.1, and v1.1.2, the EVE client is not responding properly to my mouse clicks and drags. I launch the program, login, and enter the hangar UI. Everything displays as expected, but nothing really responds properly to the mouse. It's difficult to select anything, typically taking multiple left-clicks even to just change focus on a window. Selecting icons or buttons is similarly problematic. Getting right-click context menus is a joke because usually the program doesn't seem to know where the mouse pointer is, so selecting a menu item from a menu is pretty much impossible. If I do manage to select an object, say a ship in the Ships window or an item in the Items window, dragging it just doesn't work. Moving or resizing windows doesn't work. In the hanger view, ship spinning doesn't work. Either the ship doesn't respond properly or it will randomly spin wildly.

The system does seem to respond to keyboard inputs, so I can change focus on windows using ctrl-TAB. But even then actually clicking on a control in the focused window is pretty random. I can exit the program with the ESC menu and then tabbing a lot to the Quit button and hitting Return.

This problem seems rather inconsistent. The other day I logged in and everything worked just fine. I could select and move windows. I could push buttons and select icons and drag them around. Then when I logged in later that evening, no mouse movements or clicking worked at all. I exited the program using the ESC menu and tabbing a lot to the Quit button. I launched again and I had *some* mouse control, although very flakey and incomplete. By manipulating the focus through the ctrl-TAB menu, I could get some input into a chosen window, but it required a lot of extraneous clicking around. Frequently the mouse location input to the program was different than the position of the mouse pointer on the screen.

I initially reported this in the main Crucible v1.1 issues thread and I've filed a petition with CCP on this issue, but have basically heard no response back from them.

Anyone else experiencing this problem?

I am using Mac OS X 10.6.8 on an iMac with 3.6 GHz Intel Core i5, 4GB memory, ATI Radeon HD 5750 graphics adapter, 2560x1440 display.

EDIT: I should add that I also tried removing the cache and settings folders in the Library/Application Support/ folder, per GM Xamother's suggestion, but to no avail.

Im having the same problem (for a week now). I have reinstalled the game couple of times and it worked fine for some time but the problem keeps coming back. Basically the client starts but instead of login screen the screen goes black or nothing happens after the crucible screen. Any help here? Paying for the game and not being able to play is starting to get a bit frustrating What?

Ok, it's not working...
I've reinstalled the client, experimented with graphic settings = same results, update didn't help, now my ship flies side way in warp tunnel, tunnel faces wrong direction but this doesn't cause any problems. What was not happening prior to last update - freezing in station without obvious reason:(

P.S. Can i pay half the price for the half of quality?

Here's a clear video showing the font freeze problems that have been around since end of November.

http://youtu.be/EjXHMm_zbYM

The example I show is just a dscanner, and how showing more font causes a noticible freeze.

MacPro 2x2.4Ghz Xeon (8 core)
16Gb Ram
ATI 5790 1 Gb
OSX 10.7.2

There's no reason this machine should ever freeze, so it's clearly an issue. I'm considering turning off all chat windows.

Me too!

Client has been behaving wonderfully for many months, until the latest patch. Found my brand new Thanatos in the middle of a haven besieged by who knows how many dps, when the screen froze. Waited for several minutes trying various mouse maneuvers. Nothing budged. No movement except for the rounds being fired at me and the Haven rats flying.

At last I was able to get out of there by "Force Quitting" the Macintosh.

Exactly the same issues as marius gabinus above. Since 1.1 mouse input (actually, I'm using a trackpad) usually doesn't work properly. Right clicks produce context menus in the wrong places and trying to click and drag windows results in randomness, or nothing at all. Keyboard input seems fine. Once or twice I managed to right click and select Rest Camera, and that seemed to correct things for awhile.

Resizing between full screen and windowed at least twice has given me back mouse control. I once had it work flawlessly for an entire day after 1.1.2 and I thought it was fixed. Alas not. Have tried clearing my cache.

Client also crashes ALL THE TIME. No errors, just freezes. Can be on the logon screen or while sitting idle in a station - I can't see any pattern.

Late 2011 Macbook Pro @ 2.5GHz i7
8GB, 1GB Radeon HD6770M
Lion 10.7.2
No mods, addons or funny business - it was a clean install only 2 months ago.

I'm not one for idle threats, and I haven't been playing the game much, so if this keeps up it's no biggie to just unsubscribe. It's not playable for me right now at all.

As of 1.1.2. client now starts in windowed mode instead of full screen which it used too...

But interestingly in windowed mode... the fans are off. As soon as full screen mode is entered... fans sounds like jet engine taking off.

This is obviously a serious issue. Perhaps I have missed it elsewhere, but as the beta testers it would be nice to get some feedback from CCP. Smile

Eve Online (Not Mac Friendly) Sad

Anyway I have an issue as well I was playing eve fine with the patch everything was dandy and then I turned the game off. Big mistake a half hour later when I try to get on eve again. I cant even open eve.... I can open it and see that eve is coming up and I see the 2nd thing in the dock and then nothing. My entire computer gets incredibly slow untill I force quit eve. It refuses to come back up and yes I have reinstalled eve twice now.... And im anoyed that ccp doesent even respond to any of our issues. We play your game to!

After a few successful starts, and quits, Mac will basically stop responding to anything. Have to do a power button reset. Have consistently had this problem after playing Eve for several months. Often nukes preferences like chat windows and overviews. Seeing more screen freezes and client crashes after moving back to 00--sorry, but that is crap.

I am having the same issue when I try to start Eve. I have a new IMac that is completely up to date with 8 Gb RAM.

Hello all, I have had the problem where I would attempt to run my eve, the loadup screen saying cruciable will pop up, then it would dissapear, no client would start and my mac would have a lagfest until i forcequit.
HOWEVER I have found a way around this. This includes deleting the cache and a bunch of preferences from your computer as well as all the previous patches. I am assuming that the latest patch made to macs were creating a conflict with pervious patches. anyways here we begin,

Open finder --> /Users/your username/Library/Application Support/EVE Online/p_drive/Local Settings/Application Data/CCP/EVE/c_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility

Now that you are here

1) open cache and delete ALL folders and files within
2) open cache backup and delete ALL folder and files within
3) open settings and delete all except browser (saves your browser bookmarks)

I am currently in the process of seeing what else can be done to preserve the personal settings but heck I'd rather remake all my settings and whatnot than have to wait for a failed patch from transgaming, NOT CCP. Transgaming has already pissed me enough from another game they shut out...ahem...League of Legends...*cough cough*.

Anyway GL with macs! MACS FTW!
___

EDIT:
I am assuming that if you only delete the patch files from the cache and cache backup folders the fix may be found without the loss of bookmarks and personal preferences which include all the chat groups you are subscribed to, market favorites, toolbar setup, overview setups. However personal bookmarks are not affected but game settings such as quality and station environment will be changed to default. I would be glad if someone could tell me if only deleting the patch files would allow EVE to run properly. I am currently in the process of remaking my chats and overview settings.
