What do people thing about the following suggestion: Halving the sensor recalibration time on Force Recons with the CovOps Cloak.

At Cloaking IV, that would change the sensor recalibration time from 6 seconds to 3 seconds.

Where I am going with this is that under current conditions, if you decloak beside a target, you are looking at typically 6 seconds, best case 5 seconds, BEFORE you can even being to lock. You then have to deal with what ever your standard lock time is.

Against a frigate, that is 6 to 7 seconds.
Against a cruiser, 4 to 5 seconds.

That puts functional lock time (assume best case 5 seconds) on a frig at 11-12 seconds, and 9-10 seconds on a cruiser sized hull.

In both cases , only the most inattentive pilots can be tackled, before they can warp out. Battleships of course are taken down.

With my suggestion , at cloaking V you shave 2.5 seconds off that time, bringing frigs down to 8-9 seconds and cruisers 6-7 seconds. Still time for the on the ball targets to bail out or trouble, but you will now catch the less than sharp.

Does this sound reasonable, or over-powered, or something no one cares about?
I am certainly not talking about zero time sensor recalibration. That is the purview of stealth bombers and BLOP's, and should stay that way.

Well, I guess that is the basic question, would it make the ship class OP.
And that rig only decreases sensor calibration by 10%, not a significant drop.

IMO, there are only two Recon related things that need work, and lock delay is not one of them.
1. Pilgrim needs more fitting & slightly more damage
2. Dampeners need boosting

That is all.

I like fitting a Sebo to an Arazu and would typically de-activate the cloak at less than 1AU from bubble collapse during a warp-in (you can warp out and back if you're already on grid). It's very unlikely the target will d-scan you and react in the few seconds before you land on grid.

Otherwise you could try MWD-bumping the target or something like that.



Agree but more specifically the Maulus Celestis Keres Lachesis Arazu bonuses need boosting, not the damps themselves imho.

Since we're talking about Recons, I'm referring the ships ability to use them.
I would have the damp bonus increased on the hulls you listed, not increase the modules stats.

As a recon 5 toon, I can tell you that having a Falcon or Arazu decloak with no sensor recalibration delay would be a guaranteed trip to the clone vat. The only thing keep them from being OP is the recal delay. It is also the only reason I don't fit a point on my Falcon. Takes so damn long to get the point working that my target is usually long gone, or has drones on me, in which case I need to warp out or die.

No, I think the sensor recal delay is well placed for Force Recons.

As far as the Pilgrim, how can that piece o' trash possible be the most likely to kill something? It's completely useless vs missiles, drones, and anything with a cap booster, and even then it has to be a point blank range to neut. I am much more fearful of a Curse. From experience, I can say that getting insta-neuted from 50km is nerve-wracking.
