Lets make combat boosters (pills) more viable....

I thought I either heard or read a statement via CCP that they were looking into making Combat Boosters more viable.

Currently, the side effects of using such pills can be so brutal that, for the most part, people tend to shy away from their use.

Most serious capital pilots will carry pills with them, but they seem to be the exeception to the rule.

Perhaps (to balance out cause and effect) CCP could take the following route.

- Remove the negative effects of pills all together, or at least greatly reduce the chance of them occurring.

- Enhance the effect of the booster more, on a scale concurrent with the price.

- Redo the manufacturing costs associated with pills, so that the lower end ones are cheap, but that the costs ramp up considerably. Currently the most expensive boosters are about 40m. That should, in my opinion, be closer to 100m after the boosters are re-designed. (source - http://eve-marketdata.com/browse_market.php?marketgroup_id=977)

What you're suggesting was supposed to be in crucible, but it was rolled back after having hit sisi since the result of this would have been to create just another mandatory thing you need to pewpew.

Very happy this will never happen. Like Rixiu said, your suggestions would just mean that everybody eats pills and they would lose all meaning.

Booster changes are on hold for now.

After reviewing the comments from this thread and removing the first booster draft from Crucible, we realized boosters needed a lot more design work than expected to be made functional.

Agree with comments in this thread. Ideally, Boosters should probably have more limited side effects during their usage but, debilitating side effects after their effective time, imo. For example, you use a pill, you've not got 30 minutes for their effects to apply with some drawbacks. After that 30 minutes, you crash and you're basically useless.

If anyone has done drugs in the real world they'll know that after you come down, you're pretty much useless requiring a recovery period.
