Crach (Freeze) on quit

I've been using my my mac mini very successfully on low graphics settings as a second machine, however for a month or so it has frozen the system on quit (in about 50% of quits anyway). I can still hear people on teamspeak, but I'm totally frozen and unable to get out of Eve. The mouse still move but I can't click anything, and I'm just looking at a picture of deep space!

Attempting to force quit or other such tricks has no effect - I literally have to reboot the machine to get it going again.

Any suggestions most welcome!

Bumping this thread because I'm having the same issue on two Macs I've been trying to play EVE on over the last couple of weeks (god bless my desktop system, I can't wait to get back to it).

One's runnning OS X 10.5.8, the other 10.7.2. The older OS seems to crash way more frequently, but it happens occasionally on the new OS as well. Extremely annoying.
