Returned from a long break

Hi all,

I have returned from a long break from the game and have been on and off for years. I wanted some advice...

Basically, I've never been a big fan of PVP as I always found it quite slow paced, but have preferred the more economic based sides of things. I made this character and had a lot of fun station trading, and want to return to the game with a friend to start our own corp...The problem is, in Eve without long term goals I used to find things can turn stale fast.

We aimed to start our own corp (probably have about 500mil between us atm) and start our own enterprise, producing, trading etc. - what is there for us to do that isn't pvp or missions? Can we build up our corp around production etc, is it even viable to have a character that both trades and produces? The game can get expensive quickly if I have to have a few accounts given the monthly sub price versus some mmos.

Any good ideas are appreciated, what is there out there for somebody that is more than happy to put their excel skills to use to do?

Thanks :)

(btw, can you walk on stations yet? I remember that was on the horizon...)

Sure, industry can be a viable thing for a person or even corp to practice.
Keep in mind you need ISK to get your stuff started (see you already have a good amount to start up) and you need to research the markets you think you will be trading / producing in.

You can off course mix industry and trading, you can mine and then build stuff you sell or maybe even buy minerals to produce stuff with etc.

*No, walking in station isn't open yet, it will not be more then your captain quarters for some time as CCP actually turned around and now specify on F.i.S. again.

p.s. Keep in mind undocking from a station automatically means you are subject to possible PvP even if you don't like it, in space any player can kill you if he wants (he has to pay consequences if it's in high-sec though).

I don't know. Maybe you could put your excel skills to good use to find out if production is viable?

Why are you starting a corp? What can your corp offer to people?

Basically there are things to produce T1 stuff, T2 and T3.

T1 can just be done out of the stations and you don't need a corp. If you want to build supers, then you need access to sov, but no decent alliance will take you, so you are gonna have to rent.

For T2 production you will need a corp with high faction standings to anchor a pos, because there isn't enough station slots.

For T3 you will also need a pos and probably wormhole access to gather the materials you need.

But what I don't understand is the point of all this. Once you get past the initial learning curve, and has all the pos set up and everything production should not take more than 30-60min every couple of days. You are going to have to come up with something else to do in-between setting up jobs. And if you corporation grows a bit then you are gonna get wardecced and hunted down and killed.
