No franchise they ever touched stayed on top.

Their EA sports franchises are still doing amazing. Dead Space 2 carried on strong from Dead Space 1, unfortunately the Sims series is still amazingly strong (where I wish it would f##k off and die) Need for Speed is still as popular as ever*.

And for the horrible horrible way they destroyed C&C, they still have their logo on Westwood's two best titles. RA2 and E:BFD.

*Unfortunately they won't bring back Road Rash, bastards.

Only sports does well and that is because of licenses and underhanded business practices. Their sport games are garbage. I'd take PES 12 over FIFA 12 anyday of the week.

I actually miss Konami's ISS, that was an amazing football game. The Madden series however can't be beat for quality for NFL games.

Quote:
Also dead space was better than the sequel, sims is a joke now and need for speed is trash. Red alert beats RA2!

Both Deadspace games are EA based, the sequel may not have been as good as the first game but it's still brilliant. Sims was always a joke, yet it sells because it's the modern day equivalent of owning a dolls house.

RA was too unbalanced for me, RA2 seemed the more complete game. E:BFD beats them all though.

EVE isn't on a single server. It amuses me to no end how even some Eve players get this wrong.

eve is on a single server. ( or server-cluster if you must ), bu that doesn't change what they're trying to say.

or if you mean eve_china, while very similar, it is a different game, and you can't play eve_china without a chinese identification number, if I remember correctly. So to even play it outside of chine requires some hoop-jumping at the very least.

Also seeing as this is a bitching against EA thread, **** them for not putting ME3 on Steam and forcing me to either mail order thus not playing at Midnight, or ... using Origin.

Origin can go burn in napalm.

You pay for that stuff?

Admittedly I've bought a couple of DLC's in my time, but because they came with such massive praise... that and I couldn't find them on torrents.

If true, this is a smart move on EA's part. They've wisely noted that a significant factor in the reluctance of players to (permanently) switch from WoW is the fact that they must abandon years' worth of accumulated characters, achievements, wealth and items in the transition.

Of course, EA is terrible and no one should ever buy any of their games, let alone play an MMO developed/published by them. That doesn't mean that this "veteran transference" idea isn't a good one, however. In fact, in theory it's the best idea I've ever heard for competing with Blizzard... well, aside from making MMOs that are actually good, but no developer seems capable of that anymore.

What they're really doing is trying to dupe players into giving up proprietary information on competitors' subscriber bases. You can bet they'll turn around and sell that information the first chance they get.

I don't buy the ME DLC no, but now it is almost required... just check it out, either google or use neogaf, they have a thread about it or 2 even. DLC and microtransactions is the new game for 60+100's of dollarsRoll

Had to laugh when i read this, EA is the fast food franchise of the gameing industry banging out Mc-Games that will never come remotely close to Eveonline. They don't have the talent or know how to compete with Eve. Thanks for the laugh EA, stick with your Mc-Games.

Tbh, DLC for me is a hit or miss, I tend to wait for the reviews and see how long people get out of it. You can pay 4-5 quid for something that lasts 10-15 minutes and it sucks. You can pay 3-4 quid for something that gives you several hours of fun and has a post DLC consequence to it. The Shadow Broker DLC for ME2 was a good example of great DLC.

I just hate Origin. Its terrible.

There are plenty of already working programs just like it. It is pointless.

Last great thing from EA was... honestly can't think of anything. Other than SIMCity (original), but I can't remember if that was EA or if they just bought it later.

True, and horse armor for oblivion was terrible lol also the dlc and stuff in DA 2 looked insane, yet ME3 is going to be worse in that area. I am done with companies trying to, sorry for being "frank" lol, screw over their customers, and they are screwing you over no matter how you look at it.

How the hell will EA be able to manage a fully functional MMO network when they can barely keep their servers from crashing once a day?

Watch_ Fred Fred Frederation_ and stop cryptozoologist! Fight against the brutal genocide of fictional creatures across New Eden! Is that a metaphor? Probably not, but the fru-fru- people will sure love it!

EVE is on Tranquility, so its one server however much you want to complicate it. It amuses me to no end how some Eve players think they are so smart, but just end up sounding like a smug jackass.

You're comparing a company that makes small group multiplayer/single player games with a company who's to date released one game which is an MMO Sandbox.

That's like comparing apples and oranges. CCP has in it's time produced one awesome juicy apple, whereas EA has mass produced oranges, a fair number are crap, most are pretty good, but some are the best oranges you'll ever eat.

They also run their MMOs on engines that don't support rollbacks.

EA is the way it is because it costs multiple millions of dollars to make triple AAA games and they have to answer to the people giving them the money.

Nobody (sane) is going to invest that kind of capital in something untested, so they tend to stick to formula.

Edit: Since some people seem to think that CCP is smarter/better than EA for some reason, remember CCP is the company that thought spawning scorpions for just their MT currency would be A-OK. They even convinced themselves the CSM gave its seal of approval too.

Until they realized what a steaming pile of sh1t their "awesome" graphics engine was, EVE was completely dead to them. Literally all it was going to be was market research and a beta for the upcoming Twilight Online. How's that for customer service?
