EVE Black-screening

Hey!

Yesterday just before the server was dew to come online after DT my client started black-screening - client starts, the splash screen appears, and then just black screen. From what I can tell the client itself is working as the keyboard shortcuts are working and the mouse pointer is changing at the places where all the different elements are (username input box, etc.). Iv tried generic patcher, clean EVE install, repairing disk permissions and anything else I could think of. Has anyone ever had similar problem and how to get round it?

I do not know if you can get to the esc menu fast enough, but there seems to be several black screen / lockup / crash issues that only happen with high graphics settings. If you can get to the esc menu and turn the settings down, it may help.

Wont help unfortunately as all the settings are on low and the black-screening happens instantly :(

I have the same problem since todays patch. Black screen after splash screen, can only tab out to force quit .

As of last night I dont even get the black-screen anymore Sad After splash, no window initiates at all. I have made a petition about the matter and GMs are (or should be P) looking into it. Still think its more my computer than the client, but who knows.

BTW Layne, have you tried cmd-Q in the blackscreen? Does it work for you?

OK, I managed to fix the problem by deleting EVE using AppZapper. That also cleaned all the related files and after clean install everything works fine :)

i have the same probleme on imac 27" osx.7.2 ....
tried more or less the same things except appzap , still not working, still blackscreen after splash.

gonna try appzap and let you know.

ok did the appzaper thing , but instead of a clean install, i did just re-use the eve app wich was already installed.
everything works fine, no more black screen.

Im having this issue also. My main client just froze as i jumped through a gate. Then as i restarted, black screen. The funny thing is, my eve clone client works.

I had black screen before, but it was cleared up by removing the cache files in the eve program folder on the mac.

Can also report suffering the same issue - my Freighter jumped through a gate in Caldari High Sec then screen froze completely. Had to Force Quit it then tried to restart the client with no luck. Trying a reinstall as we speak.

Running on an iMac 27inch with Lion 10.7.2, 2.7 Ghz Core i5, 4GB Memory with AMD Radeon HD 6770M 512MB.


Fingers crossed the reinstall works . . . .

**EDIT**

Just did a full reinstall and still the same problem - any ideas? Some CCP Feedback/Advice would be nice as I have skills to change . . .

Did you remove just the client or all the support files too? As far as I can tell the problem isnt with the app itself, but with either the prefs or some other files. removing those should help.

And I have an open petition about the matter. Was asked to provide some general system profiler files, but havent yet received an answer.

Same issue here. Jumped through a gate in hi-sec and EvE blackscreened. Can still hear the sounds as the mouse hovers over buttons and things happen in space. Why can't CCP just put in the effort to build a decent Mac client?

EvE Online, where client malfunctions and bugs substitute for gameplay mechanics.

I´ve been experiencing the same issue and tried AppZapper

Was able to keep the app itself , but the three supporting bits got trashed, client took about 3 seconds longer to initialize, but is working now.

Have the same thing. Client froze (as usual), force quit it and since then I can't get into eve anymore. Program starts, the small crucible window appears but after that noting anymore. No chance to get into any settings, etc. Only possibility: force quit.

Remove "EVE Online" folder from /Users/USERNAME/Library/Application Support (turn on "hidden files")
But don't forget to backup it first. To but back your fittings, overviews, etc.
In my case it was helpful.
