You are banned from anything having to do with with elections and voting.

Abstain: verb, to refrain from voting; casting neither a "yea" or "nay" vote

On a more serious note, I'm wondering how long it takes to get a passport these days.

No really CCP why do you still go thru the whole proces of a CSM election , probably easier to pick 6 random goons and/or there pets and 2 random unlucky players

Serious you probably get more positive feedback with asking on these forums with a blog with correspondending feedback thread
Atleast you will have the players who care about the subject and the game answering the relevant feedback

I do not agree with what you are saying , but i will defend to the death your right to say it...... Voltaire

I never cared about the CSM before, but that has changed since the current CSM obviously had a big impact in turning EVE around. So now I need information to become a qualified voter. How and where will I get it?

Actually, voting for TheMittani would be a no-brainer for me. But I assume he will be elected anyway, and chairman too, having thousands of his subjects behind him and all that. So I wonder if some of the others are especially deserving of re-election. I'd want to make sure that w-space residents are represented again, but I have no real idea how good a job the two w-space guys in the current CSM were doing.

I'm not sure which two w-space reps you are referring to. Trebor has a carebear alt in w-space, and Meissa spends some time in w-space, but would freely admit he mostly lives in lowsec. I live full-time in w-space (in a C6), and as the campaign kicks off I will be updating my blog as well as my not-yet-existing candidate thread. If you have questions, feel free to eve mail me.

I'm sorry but this made me laugh.

However, don't take this the wrong way but I won't 'Like' your post or vote for you since you don't represent my interests or share the same views and concerns regarding Eve game play issues.

I agree with those who say that the high sec PvE group needs representation. Lately I've been entertaining thoughts about running for CSM myself.

Personally I think the CSM should be comprised of 3 different groups to represent each area of Eve - High Sec, Low Sec and Null Sec. Each group would have 3 members - 1 member to represent PvP, 1 member to represent PvE and the 3rd member to represent both aspects of that specific group. Each group would canvas their respective area's population regarding issues, solutions, concerns and viewpoints about future content pertaining to that groups area. The group would then debate, vote and compile a list for presentation to CCP.

Obviously a bit more thought would have to put into this but I think you get the idea.

That would work better than holding something between a popularity contest and plutocracy in action. Straight

I ask this of everyone (I asked you this before in this thread, but you might have missed it),

"Do you have a better idea, how is your idea workable, and how does your idea fulfill the objectives that led to the creation of the CSM?"

Asking CCP to interpret feedback threads is a shitpoor way to go about representing the populace. It led to the depopulation of Nullsec (Anom Nerf), and analyzing ~80 pages of freeform responses would be an incredible PITA.

Also, the players who take the effort to campaign for CSM (either by growing a powerbloc around them over years or whatever), clearly "care about the game"

Sure let them go right ahead with this election bet you that less than 15precent of all players will vote
meaning that only people who care only for themselves and their close friends will help to decide where CCP is going with this game

you obvious never had experience in a RL election or have to deal with the sort of people that get elected on a almost daily basis

but who cares it is my last day on eve my subscription runs out tomorrow best of luck with your future CSM and when they fail to kill the game in a year or so i might be back

I would further add that the results of this type of weekly (or whatever interval) voting be made public so everyone can see the results. This will give the player base the ability to see for themselves what the opinions and preferences of the masses are. This can quickly prove / disprove any disparities, reduce trolling, give everyone empirical data as to the mood / thoughts of the rest of the player base, and overall give people a better sense of having a say in the game they love.

I can trivially write a Poll to come out any way I want. Just like that Texas Legislator got the legislature to almost pass a resolution praising the Boston Strangler (he pulled it right before it officially passed, but after it had enough votes) by writing it in creative language.

The CSM was intended to be a check on CCP's idiocy machine (everyone's got one, some just hide it out back), so having CCP write the questions that are going to be used to be a check on their idiocy machine is, well, idiotic.

That is certainly a potential outcome... The difference is that the idiocy, if present, would be publicly visible, seen sooner rather than later, and documented for the public record. This community has demonstrated it's ability to react to news, policies, etc that they feel fall into this category. The difference here being our ability to respond to and react to the good and the bad.

Think about how polls are released for general consumption. They don't tend to include the exact questions in the release. So the idiocy will be less public than the CSM minutes. Most of the CSM members have fairly active blogs in which they lay out their thoughts and ideas.

The people who are interested in the continued health of the game will vote. If you don't like those people, try to get other people interested in the game. Nobody's preventing people from voting.

I obviously have no idea what life experiences you have had, and make no assumptions based on that lack of knowledge. (By that I mean to say, when you make assumptions about someone's life experiences, there's a really good chance you'll be wrong)

Can I have your stuff?

I'd semi-seriously-but-not-really-but-kinda flirted with the idea of standing, but....meh.

I am happy to note however, that I would make a really, really crappy politicianBear

(I can visit Iceland on my own time, for reasons that have nothing to do with EVE, if you can imagine that!)

E: Just as an aside, I think the option of "None of the Above," or "No Confidence in Existing Nominees" on the ballot would help a lot.

There was an "Abstain" option last time.

By popular demand I will be running for CSM.

By early polling, I should take CSM Chair easily.

The only end-game content in EVE Online is the crap that makes you rage quit.

here is an idea make the voting for CSM like the character creation screen... pretty much on voting days after logging in you have the voting screen load... after you vote then you load the game... (an abtation option would be available to those who really dont want to vote...) but i am sure you will have a much more representational account for the players wishes...)

So 1/3 click something at random to make the silly random screen keeping them from their spaceships go away, 1/3 click the (in their view) prettiest avatar pic, 25% click the ugliest trollface because LOLOLOLOLOL, and the remainder make some sort of educated decision. Pretty much the same as at present just on a larger scale really, altho I'm probaly overexagerating the % that make any sort of educated/reasoned decision. If the vast majority of EVE dont care enough to get involved atm, they wont care any more if you shove it under their noses.

Also wtf is wrong with this forum atm? Typing this the text comes out at about 1/4 the speed I type whilst being interupted by the page semi-reloading frequently...

I don't know about using the forums for pre-election. Especially because you can like a single post with all characters you own. I don't think your amount of votes should depend on how many characters you own. And if you can just constantly recycle forum alts for this purpose, then Ugh. Why can it not just be in the usual election voting way?
Also, I never liked the 1 account=1 vote. It's too plutocratic for my tastes.

I guess that is just to remove worst candidates who can't even get 100 likes for their post.

If someone is that bad on getting support (or recycling alts), they don't deserve to be in election. (I don't think I would get 100 votes if I went for it, since I have no idea why I would really go for CSM Lol)

So until when does the current CSM hold office? April 2013?

What happends if I "like" all the candidates that propose to run? I can only vote for one in the end but what if I like to give them all a chance to actually run.
