Cloaky Vagabond. It is very easy to only ever engage on your terms only with it. You just have to watch out for EWAR ships. Rapier/Huginn/Curse especially will mess you up.

My solo ship of choice would be either a Talos or a Harpy - though I'd certainly be willing to entertain an Ishtar or Stabber Fleet.

Talos: I've been engaging pretty heavy gangs with it and had great luck killing them until they get tired of it and just run away. Examples here: http://vimeo.com/34665420, http://vimeo.com/35131824

Harpy: I've been engaging really heavy gangs with the Harpy and had fantastic luck ******* people up. I've taken everything from inties and AFs to BCs solo with it. Last night I took a Vagabond on a gate with it. Its just got a fantastic tank. Examples are above, and also http://vimeo.com/35642474

Ishtar: The recent speed and agility boosts gave me back the old school nano Ishtar. I haven't put it to use but the numbers are there to support it and I've flown it before. Definitely sexy looking. :)

SFI: Your standard fare of killing people. Don't fly it like a Vaga.

I like your Harpy setup. I made similar, but tossed a Light Neutron Blaster II in one slot being I had the space as opposed to all Ion's.

I own one. Now if I can just convince someone to bring a big enough gang to Ama that I can field it...

Ok, so you have a faction point and an alt running a tackle range gang link (which is still "solo" somehow), so you're up to 55km. Too bad you're still slow and have the agility of a titan, so you're still not going to catch anything that doesn't want to be caught. That's the fatal problem with the 100mn kite Tengu, you're only going to kill anything if you find targets that are stupid enough to just sit there and die.

Clearly you've never flown a 100mn AB tengu. Also, i never said that running with a skirmish link loki was solo, I just said it's an option to fly by yourself and be able to fight groups of players.

Point range is roughly 53km with an overloaded republic fleet point. Web range is 27km overloaded with a fed navy web. You go ~3200m/s overloaded. As long as you have a brain and understand how to manually fly your ship, nobody will get away from you and anybody who doesn't want to be caught will be in for a big surprise when you point him at 53km. This is based on personal experience.

The ship really isn't for flying around ganking targets anyway, if you're flying it that way, you're doing it wrong. It excels in baiting and then fighting groups of players.

You do know that T2 plate + ACR is basically the worst thing ever, right? Use a meta 4 (rolled tungsten) and double damage rigs in the low slots.

Comparing to a Blarpy:

  • Tank: Wolf has 12k EHP; Harpy has 17k EHP, plus 75 DPS passive tank
  • Damage: Wolf has 262 DPS (mitigated to ~190 because of Harpy passive tank); Harpy has 220 DPS
  • Range: Wolf has 0.675+8.25 (Barrage is 1.35+12.4); Harpy has 2.43+3.25 (Null is 6.79+4.55)
  • Speed: Wolf has 911 m/s (if you use a T2 AB); Harpy has 835 m/s

So yeah, I don't see the Wolf chewing through the extra 5k EHP while doing less effective damage. Sorry!

A whole alliance of people hasn't managed to get the cloaky Vagabond nerfed, I strongly doubt one person is going to get the blaster Harpy nerfed.

Matter of taste. Like I said, Minmatar cruiser hulls are generally good for PVP. Loki included.

Out of curiosity, what hulls are you thinking about besides the Loki ?

Rupture is good for a T1, but not really a contender for "best solo pvp ship".
Stabber has a vague tackling niche.
Scythe and Bellicose are Scythe and Bellicose.
Rapier, Huginn, Scimitar, Broadsword do their job nicely, but not solo. Munnin might fit here too afaik.

That leaves Loki and Vaga ? What am I missing ?

You are correct about the ones you listed, but as others have mentioned there are also Hurricane and Cynabal - and since there is no "best" in EVE, there is no true contender for it anyway. ;)
