EA Games: Orlando, plans on violating your EVE character.

So the folks over at EA Games told me about their brave new concept that will shatter the MMO market. "Transferable Progress".

If your a 8 year EVE Veteran EA Games plans on calculating your previous investment in EVE at a half-time rate, and giving you 4 years of experience in their upcoming MMO release.

EVE is not alone in this defilement, EA has a neatly defined table for each MMORPG on the market, and plans on making players "veterans, day one".

Doesn't this constitute some violation of intellectualism ?

Anyone so utterly ******** to jump into an EA MMO should have his head checked. Thrice. Whatever the reward.

For all the disagreements I have with CCP, there's always one thing to be said for them: They are not EA.

Show me an EA game on a single server that promotes PVP, encourages scamming, DEVs play, allows fellow players to shape the game universe, and wait for it, has lots of rage quitting carebears and I will transfer tomorrow...

I think having level 50 of every possible character in SWTOR would bore me to tears.

Give me Yoda (me and only me) and just maybe...

I asked specifically, and the answer is "no"

EA will link your character profile to the other game's character, and it will no longer be redeemable. Redemption is limited to the highest value character only, but all characters you link into their assessment tool will be linked to your EA account.

So basically you link your WoW toon, your EVE toon, and your DDO toons and it grants a reward based on the most valuable.

The only real VIOLATION I can see for certain is that EA will be using EVE's API system, and WoW's armory system to evaluate chracters.

that's a fun idea and would lead to endless debates whether one year of playing WoW is worth more or less than one year playing EVE Twisted

(at least for a publisher's own games this concept makes a lot of sense:
many players' investment in MMOs is currently based on the fiction that the MMO will last forever - and deep down everybody knows that this is not true.
"Transferrable progress" would make it easier for the developers to create a version 2.0 of a successful title or give up on a game that is way past its lifetime while still retaining the original game's customers)

Anyone else getting tired of MMJNLDO* games?

* Massively Multiplayer the Journey Is No Longer the Destination Online

edit: aka, the concept that the "journey is half the fun" is being abandoned.

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

Show me that idiot who will switch EVE account to some nothing-to-do-after-one-month EA "MMO" like SWTOR or TSW P

Huh. What a bad idea. Even if you have high leveled characters right out of the gate, what are you going to know how to do with it? It's like someone giving you a half chewed piece of Filet mignon. Sure, it might be a good choice of meat, but it's half eaten already! Gotta say, doesn't sound all that appetizing.

EVE isn't on a single server. It amuses me to no end how even some Eve players get this wrong.

EVE is on Tranquility, so its one server however much you want to complicate it. It amuses me to no end how some Eve players think they are so smart, but just end up sounding like a smug jackass.

Great, if this is true, EVE bots will be fully trained and able to crash the economy before it even gets off the ground. Sounds like an EA product.
