I've been playing EVE since 2004 and I normally take breaks every now and then. This time, I've been gone about a year, silently training here and there, but now I'm back.

I've been looking at most of the top combat ships in EVE for solo PvP (more or less solo Piracy tbh) and I'm stumped on what to fly. There are some really good options, but it seems a lot of the options I want are super expensive. I was wondering if anyone had any good advice for a fast, hard hitting, solo PvP ship for piracy?

The previous solo pvp ship threads I've read almost always start and end the same way, a bunch of players suggesting T1 frigates. Although I love frigates, I need something that's not for dueling other frigates. I need someone who has some experience in solo PvP to give some advice on a ship that's going to get kills from pilots who don't want to be killed. If you don't know the difference, then please don't respond. If there is a frigate or other hull that can do that, then please help a poor vet out with a good recommendation and some reasoning behind the selection. I'm open to anything.

Bonuses to any ship that can be fierce with stealth, even if it's T3 and expensive.

(I can fly most every ship in the game with my pilots, don't worry about race/hull restrictions)

Impossible! Solo PVP is dead.

Seriously, your question is so vague and the options so manifold, that there cannot be a good definite answer.

Some ideas:
- Drake if you are aiming for something cheap
- Tengu if you can afford it
- Minmatar cruiser hulls are famous for PVP these days
- Eidolon

Yes because if your not in a fleet your not doing it right...

You have many options and should probably fly many ships based on what you are trying to do at the time. No ship is going to be able to kill everything. Round out your hanger with a stack of battle cruisers a recon or two and if you have the isk a t3 or two. That way you can adapt to what you are hunting.

There is plenty of Solo PVP to be had. You just have to be willing to look for it and not run like a girl when local jumps by two or three.

Matter of taste. Like I said, Minmatar cruiser hulls are generally good for PVP. Loki included.

The Tengu though has some kind of special feature which is called "kiting". They can orbit fast and spam long range missiles.

Good point. It's not like I'm doing solo missions with NPC's. I'm talking about interacting with players via my guns. Isn't that what EVE is all about?

i understand the point and the idea behind the solo term, and maybe it's just that which i find hard to grasp: the idea of not doing something i like, with people i like that also like the same things..

but, to each his own, and to reply to your question: if you have the skills as a fighter pilot, i recommend any t3 since it will add much needed depth to what is otherwise a lone quest.
multi subsystem choice will give you more options, versatility in every aspect of playing, great offensive and defensive abilities with a different look of the ship each time you switch a subsys. to sum the things up nicely for you.

It's looking that way with T3, but it's so expensive. We're talking about 500m just for the base setups.

I may lean towards a Rapier being they can come pretty close to 400dps with drones, overheat and implants. The only problem is that it doesn't have the same EHP, but then again, it's only 150m base.

Out of curiosity, what hulls are you thinking about besides the Loki ?

Rupture is good for a T1, but not really a contender for "best solo pvp ship".
Stabber has a vague tackling niche.
Scythe and Bellicose are Scythe and Bellicose.
Rapier, Huginn, Scimitar, Broadsword do their job nicely, but not solo. Munnin might fit here too afaik.

That leaves Loki and Vaga ? What am I missing ?

fleet stabber is nice too and cheaper than those. I've got one fit up like a super rupture which I like a lot (I've not done much solo but I can see it would work)

As others have said, the Hurricane is probably your absolute best bet as far as the "best" solo pvp ship goes. It does a lot of dps, has excellent range and speed and has a lot of utility with it's medium neuts. And it's extremely cheap for what it can do.

That said, if you're looking for something that's essentially unkillable unless you get hotdropped or are dumb, you probably should stick with either the cynabal or vagabond if you're going to pvp truely solo. If you have an alt that can scout you around, then i would suggest flying something like an active sliepnir/cyclone, triple rep myrm, astarte, or even an active tanked battleship, i.e. dominix/hyperion/maelstrom. I suggest a scout because it's likely you will die if you run into a moderately sized gate camp with these ships, even in lowsec.

If you an alt that can fly a gang booster, the best ship is hands down the 100mn AB tengu. As long as you don't fly it like a braindead monkey, you're essentially unkillable and can win pretty much any solo fight where they can't permatank your dps. It truely shines in it's ability to kill moderately sized gangs/camps with ease, and it can get these sort of fights fairly easily considering that most people assume the tengu to be a pve boat. They don't really expect you to jump into their camp and then burn away from them and kill them while tanking all of their dps and sitting at 40km.

I wouldn't suggest flying any ships above 200mil without a scout/gang booster because after that point it sort of becomes cost ineffective. So like I said, if an alt is not an option, then your best bet is the nano-cane.

Basically all an alt does is opens up possibilities for fighting larger gangs since you can safely fit more expensive mods to your ship in order to deal with groups of players without having to worry about your ship dying because you jumped into a fleet with a couple rapiers, and honestly this happens so often that an alt is almost a nessescity.

But yea, overall if you want to fly solo, Hurricane-->Cynabal-->Vagabond. These 3 ships look very engagable to others, scale pretty well with pilot skill and are in general fast enough to burn back to the gate in the worst case scenario.
