I am kind of new to Eve Online and I was wondering if browsing the internet whilst playing on a second monitor was against the rules. (like browsing websites, watching videos ect) and if there isn't then is there a rule about looking up articles on the Eve wiki or other helpful sites for Eve, I just don't want to break the rules. Thanks in advance.

Why use a second screen? Ingame browser FTW. Just dont forget to pay attention to your ship if you're in a mission or something. P

No there's no rule against this and have others have said there is an ingame browser available on the neocom though flash has been disabled, so no youtube etc.

I'm running a mission, watching a League of Legends livestream, chatting on IRC, and replying to this post all at the same time.

I use two monitors and it's great. I can browse while doing something tedious like scanning..

2nd monitor is a requirement, not a rulebreaker

I second that.

Stick with the in game browser unless you are watching vids. You are less likely to lose your ship that way.

I'm not likely to lose my ship doing this as I constantly have Eve on one monitor and my browser on the other and keep checking Eve every like 5 seconds XD But is there any rule about using the EVE wiki whilst playing?

Why would there be a rule against that? They are even looking at linking ingame information about stuff to the wiki.
The only real forbidden activity is automation. You are not allowed to have some script or AI play the game for you.

There's absolutely no rule against that, it's even borderline encouraged, with the myriad sites of useful EVE info, with the in-game browser, the additional IGB functions that feed back into the EVE client and the EVE API... and let's not forget windowed mode // fixed window mode for the client (it's been literally years since I last played EVE in fullscreen mode).

Browse all you want, just remember to look at what's going on ingame now and then, and that the IGB (In Game Browser) can't show flash. If you stick around EVE you will see that there are alot of fansites that are made to work with some of the IGB features.

If you get more accounts it's even allowed to have several characters logged in at once.

Just never ever use macros to play the game for you, and don't hack the client and you'll be fine I think. Smile

My Gila says otherwise. :P

(To the newbies, a Gila is a drone boat that can be setup to finish some missions without any input . It's almost full automation.)
