I'd like to hear peoples ideas.

I'd like to hear ideas that wouldn't take a huge game play change in order to implement.

My Idea -

To create small gang activity you need to have places where small gangs can live.
These areas should only be viable ISK wise for small gangs to continue living there and somewhat thrive.
Any more than X players would mean the area isn't worth living in.
These areas would need to be considered not viable for larger entities to live in to keep it to small gang activity.

The thing is, we already have these areas. They are called Wormholes which almost fit the bill above exactly.

If you know what your doing you can catch targets off guard in a site and earn yourself a gank. Sometimes you can escalate a fight into a small gang PVP situation if you know how to play your cards right.

But, there needs to be more reasons to fight in Wormholes and activity in the lower class holes needs to be increased.
Ok, you can shoot their POS to try and cause them to fight you if catching them at a site isn't an option.

If we had structures that could be put up in wormholes that required maintenance and defending, this would cause more conflict, more reason to fight.
These structures could in turn add bonus's to the wormhole making the lower class wormholes a better place to live for smaller entities.
Wormholes seem to be very inactive after the sites have dried up.

Thoughts? Please continue with any additional suggestions.

Why does activity in lower class wormholes need to be increased?

If you want instant-on PvP,why not try RvB or FW?

It sounds like you want to add Sov upgrades to WHs without paying for sov bills.

Perhaps you might be looking for a way to damage blobs or disrupt sovereignty instead of making an alternate way to get the benefits of it. Perhaps add a fairly small anchorable structure that jams sovereignty benefits until the owner of the system scans down and destroys it. As for blobs see my latest in modules about kamikaze ships.

Rather than artificially enforcing small gang zones, I would much rather see two things:

1.) A revamp of the ship warp speeds so there is a bigger difference in the travel speeds of cruisers and dessie gangs compared to BC and up gangs.

2.) Actual strategic targets that a small gang can actually disrupt, and potentially profit from... several examples were given in the old Farms and Fields discussion.

This is necro'ing an old thread, but my corp mate had a really nifty Player Created Incursions idea, that could be used to spark a conflict.

The truth is, two things are needed for a healthy small-gang environment:

1.) There needs to be a healthy population density, where enough people are around to form up and fight.

2.) Fights need to happen quickly... If you give people 20 minutes to form up, they will come with more than you have, or they won't come at all.

3.) The participants on all sides need to have enough income that ship losses are quickly recoverable without hours of tedious grinding.

Personally, I think the Provi-Fightclub was a huge success in creating a fun small gang environment.... That was, until we had to blue each other up to defend our space...

Posting from an iPhone in a cafe so this is a very basic form of the idea. Will post a far more structured post or dedicated thread if people like this

Remove everything industrial from the POS shield.

Have pod pilots require to setup mineral refining /manufacturing/research in deadspace areas that has restricted access (ship size) via a warp beacon.

Small gangs of small ships can now attack these areas of infrastructure disrupting isk income of the space owner.
