How About...THIS!

Ok, so of late...

I've been thinking more and more seriously of standing for CSM 7.

I'm not even joking, either--well, not totally, anyway, except to say that misanthropy =/= masochism, but I'm digressing....

I would stand as a hi- and losec PvP-oriented candidate, with secondary emphasis on wormholes (and I don't mean pants-on-head stupidity like "make wormholes easier for fleets to invade11!!!11") as well as push for re-vamping of the NPE (idea being to emphasise the "never-100%-safe" nature of EVE, as well as implementing/expanding a tutorial about hisec aggression-baiting mechanics, and war-decs.), and re-inventing EVE's laughably archaic PvE component*

And then, quickly, I remember that if I were to be elected, then I'd have to deal with twats like the Mittani directly and frequently, and feel an overwhelming urge to run for the porcelain bus Ugh

But:

If I--or anyone else who is more of a masochist than I am--were to stand on an empire-space/wormhole-PvP platform, then what do you, the player-base, think said platform should emphasise?

*Because these, if done correctly, would contribute holistically to breeding a harder, more aware, more PvP-combat focussed breed of newbie, and this, imho, is a very, very good thing for EVE's future. Conversely, where we seem to be going at present is the diametric opposite of what EVE should be.

(Oh, and pushing for BLOPs buffs + allowing covert cynos/bridging-to in hisec would go without saying Twisted)

Discuss, and flame on!

I'd need more detailed ideas, but hey, if I was down with what you proposed, I'd probably vote for you.

You stick with that view and you have my vote Cool

I guess RnK are still butthurt over AHARM to bring up that ******** idea, it just sounds like they've given up on tactically thinking about thinks and gone "WAHHHH CCP FIX THIS FOR ME" Roll

Pretty much any candidate that would make a motivated push for improving low sec would get my vote in a heartbeat.

It's hard to navigate the well of ideas for improving lowsec without encountering pants-on-head stupidity, but if you can do it that'd be a huge motivator for me to vote. No I haven't been a lowsec resident in a long time but I'm a strong believer in the notion that if you improve one part of space, you improve all of them (or if you prefer, improve the game in general) with the residual effects.

I'm still fleshing out some ideas...The revamped, harder/more explicit-in-tone NPE is definitely staying on.

Because a clued-in EVE player who is worthy of this game is not born, s/he must be made.

E: This game as it bloody well should be, not the sinking-into-enforced-mediocrity that seems all too apparent at present.

I think rants such as the nice little one you had in the Drake QQ thread cost you in respect points. Just sayin'

My little rant was a Hell of a lot better-reasoned than all the "Nerf it because I can't figure out how to fly/counter it!" mindless carebear sheep-bleating in that thread, if I may say so myself.

And if I were to stand, then I would do so because I feel that I could contribute to improving EVE by doing so, not gaining "respect-points" from people who don't actually matter to me on any level beyond the possibility of encountering them in a video-game.

The improvement of EVE and/or stemming the increasing enforced mediocrity in same is what matters to me. Whose tender sensibilities I may/may not stroke enough in the process do not.

But then, I never said I was a politician, did I Blink

I'd look for more in an elected representative than his or her claim that "I am smarter than a mouthbreathing idiot." Might be just personal taste, but I like to believe I have standards.

That's all well and good, but while I might not individually matter, having the endorsement of important people can count for a lot (this works in the reverse, too).

You're not, and it shows. You're not even past the first page of your "tentatively running" announcement, and you're handing out "**** you"s to possible constituents.

I wouldn't recommend running. You'd be wasting your time.

If it wasn't for people quoting her I wouldn't have known she was running. Lyrrashae? For CSM? No, thank you.

And why is that bad--not being a politician, I mean.

We've already got hacks like Meissa (or however it's spelt) and the Mittani, they seem to enjoy it, leave it to them, as they--or Mittens alone if Meissa doesn't run again, as I've heard s/he won't--will almost certainly get in again.

Hey, maybe I'm just being nai'ive, thinking ideals and conviction, and absolute commitment to/refusal to compromise same can amount to anything?
My bad, sorry...

Standards--yes I have them too. That was part of the impetus behind my little rant. EVE is not supposed to be for mouth-breathing idiots, so where did all these that we're seeing come from? As for the CSM, the only people on it for whom I have any respect at all are D3, TwoStep, and maybe Trebor. The rest are a joke.

Besides, as you correctly note, this is quite tentative indeed. How/if this changes frankly depends on how much masochism I'll be able to cultivate between now and then.

Ugh...Come back to us, Mynxee, Lass, we hardly knew ye!

Unwillingness to compromise is antithetical to collaboration, which would be counterproductive to the CSM.

Unwillingness to asskiss your voters leaves you with no voters.

Unfortunately that's how politics works. I wish it wasn't, and that knowledge/ideas were more important than having a good smile, but that's not how things work. It's why I could never subject myself to running in an election, TBH.

Yep, you know it...

"EVE is real," indeed, eh? (I never thought it possible, but this is rapidly becoming one of my favouriite memes, by virtue of the unlimited cynical amusement I can get from applying it.)

Maybe not run as a politician, but be vocal a...ummm...needed ****-disturber, that speaks the truth to power*--IE Shakespeare's jester in King Lear?

The question is, how does EVE's jester get their voice heard by those who matter, in a timely fashion, and get heard above all the mindless know-nothing bleaters?

E:

* Despite his utterly hilarious delusions to the contrary, Mittani is not the heavy-hitting Eminence Grise he seems to think he is. The real power lies with CCP, and the CSM just...well, doesn't amount to that much in the long run. Which is a shame, because I genuinely hate to see exceptional, committed individuals like TwoStep, D3, former CSM Chairwoman Mynxee, and Trebor reduced to what is essentially a bread-and-circuses sideshow.

They are worthy of, and deserve, much better, imho.

Hey OP, you seem to really want to be known by who matters and not nobodies.
Too bad each of their votes count as one.
