Fix for the Neocom

Btw I should point this out: kudos to CCP for trying to make the game more customizeable. The new UI scaling, font, HUD, Neocom, etc. The intention is something they should be saluted for.

The end result, however, which is the whole point with this thread, is not functional. And there is plenty of things that can improve. My initial post got a bit messy, I updated it several times adding points, so let's try make a checklist to help CCP make these things work instead:

* "Windows" that are being used, but has been removed the player from the Neocom, should not pop up when they are open. That includes such things as chat, cargo, loot/cans, corp hangars, scanner, etc. Virtually everything you keep open. If you are using containers in PvP for example, or sorting cans in a corp hangar, you might very well have 5-10 "cargo containers" open in the Neocom. Very messy and completely unecessary.

* Separate blinking from eachother. If I have chat channels opens and some on/off blinking, I might want specific channels to blink but not the whole thing. This gets even more annoying if, like I mentioned above, you want to turn the chat channel icon off - but can't - and then the damn thing is flashing nonstop. If you turn blinking off, you won't see the wallet instead, which for me as corp director is something that is 'bad'. It should be possible to chose if icons blink, just like we can chose separate channels to blink or not, etc.

* Think through which icons show as default. Why is Science and Industry showing, but not Corporation or Contracts? Both of the latter should be alot more used and useful.. S&I has quite limited use for certain professions, mainly used by alts (no hate on S&I, it just don't make much sense). Everyone uses contracts, and Corporation info is used by almost every director (and many members) in the game..

As for the rest of the configurable UI, alot can be said but should probably be posted in their separate thread. Just to illustrate tho that the same kind of issues exist there as it does for the Neocom:
* Scalable UI was great, and adjustable font size. But different font in different text has different sizes.. right now, while most my chat is perfect size, the overview velocity text is MASSIVE while the rightclick menu text is so tiny I can barely read it. This should've been quite clear if it had been tested on different resolutions etc. This should be high prio when fixing UI in future.. it's gamebreaking at this point (either you size everything up to the point where it blocks your whole screen, or it's so small you can't even read your rightclick menus, usually in combat when you need to react quick).
* Scalable HUD just resizes it all and not separate modules, enough said. We might need bigger icons to read overheat text for example, while the speedometer/etc doesn't have to. Why is this one-size-fits-all..

Players been requesting scalable and/or recustomizeable UI since the dawn of time, it's nice to see CCP looking into it, but it's really, really bad when when the endresult is a rushed through, overly simplistic system that does a) makes no sense (default icons, one-size-fits-all-scaling, etc), and b) has extremely annoying and gamebreaking side effects (unwanted and unecessary icons blocking Neocom, no matter what, some text is way too big, others way too small, etc).

CCP, don't drop these customizeable additions. In theory they are good.
But you really have to make them work, because as it is today, it's just complete bullshit, to be frank, and the game would've been better without it (and this comes from a player who want more customization in the first place).

Rabble rabble rabble indeed.

It seems you have gotten a bad neocom and should ask for a new one. I think 1 in a thousand might be defect, but that is prone to happen.

My neocom is configurable. I'm a missioneer and currently I have; contacts, journal, wallet and browser in it. I think I have marked also, don't quite remember since I am at work now. I can edit this one to tell what I have when I get home later.

So you don't get those 'chat', 'scanner', 'cargo', 'fleet' etc icons on the left when you are opening either window?

When I try close them down they close my cargo, fleet, scanners etc, not just the icon. The damn things refuses to go away. I never cared having a million things on my left before, that's just how things were. But if CCP is chestbeating about adding a tool that then doesn't even do what they say it does, that's just bullshit and a waste of resources to begin with.

The chat icon was a bit tricky to remove, but I managed it in the end. Havent used scanner so don't know how that will behave for me. Cargo icon don't show for me, or it might and I haven't noticed it. The fleet icon goes away when I am not in a fleet anymore, unless they have sneakychanged it, besides I like that it gives you an easier icon to click if you decide to hide the fleet window. But that again is just personal preference.

Maybe try to muck about with it some more. You might be surprised by what you can do.

And for a fix to the neocom if it isn't in already, would be, being able to lock a setup. You could try suggesting that, I would support it.

- The new neocom is new but not better.
- Groups can not be renamed? Why? Forgotten? In a customizable Neocom?
- The names of the buttons are missing. Missing! In a customizable Neocom?
- Too small charpic
- Sh!t Chaticon cant be removed. In a customizable Neocom?
- Icons for items and ship hangar are fixed on a dumb position. In a customizable Neocom?
Why do CCP call this crap customizable, when nearly nothing is customizable? I am not able to "customize" the look and functionality like the old, known and loved neocom. Why?

I want to be able do re arrange the look like it was before this "customizable" crap without functionality. If you claim to have a customizable neocom CCP, let us re arrange the look as it was before this shi!t.

- The renaming is also dumb. Something I could live with .. but still dumb. No one had an demand on this.

My question - WTF did CCP muck around with the neocom when it's not something that was broken NOR something that players complained about? Why are we wasting time with this nonsense and not focusing on gameplay?

-1 for CCP.

As a customizeable NeoCom I would like to re arrange the new one EXACT the same look, as it was before. Because you can not use this mess of blinky little buttons without names.

Before this chages, CCP should not be allowed to call this mess: Customizable NeoCom. Blink
