Issues, Workarounds & Localization

So, for some time now (toward the end of Incarna), every time there's a client update, it refuses to install, or at least verify that it's been installed. I get the popup on the login screen, hit "ok", and let it install, but once the client restarts, the message pops up again as if the update had never been installed.

The only way I've been able to play thus far is to hit the "x" on the popup.

Normally I just ignore it, but some of the updates are apparently mandatory, and those can sometimes effectively disable my client until the next client update.


So is this a known/fixable issue, or should I start taking screenshots and copying my system data?

Also, if it's related, starting eve from a shortcut appears to start it in safe mode...? I have to reset my graphics settings every time I log in, unless I open eve from the root folder....
