Minmatar PvE ship of choice

Hi, I'm currently flying a Maelstrom for my PvE activities, and I''m wondering which ship would be a good stepping stone upwards later on. I don't have overly much time to play so bear in mind that heavy faction/complex fits are out of my league for now.

I haven't seen much in the form of Loki PvE, only Tengus. Are Loki completely overshadowed by it or is it useful for PvE? I know next to nothing about subsystems so it's slightly confusing to try and EFT something usable out of it. I'm currently not interested in moving back to missiles, so at least for the moment I won't consider a Tengu.

I'm also considering a Sleipnir as I've heard they make pretty decent PvE ships and got a good tank as well. Before I had a break from EVE I only played with caldari missile ships so I'm not too familiar with minmatar ship fittings currently.

Lastly my thoughts are on a Machariel. This is the one I'm closest to flying, although it's the one I'm furthest away from affording as well. Heard it shreds missions like nothing else, but not sure how it compares to the Loki and Sleipnir in the end.

Before I start focusing on one of these ships I'd like to know what I can expect from each of them in terms of mission tanking/completion time etc. Fittings for the various ships are always welcome, as well as the playstyle I should expect from them.

Thanks,
Kosetzu

The search function works much better than it used to. I found this for you.

Nothing has substantially changed since that exchange.

You have two choices. Machariel or Vargur.

The Machariel is probably the best one for 0.0 PVE because it's fast, it has FSCKOFF DPS, it has a paperthin tank, but everything can tank a sanctum with the correct hardeners and a deadspace booster.

The Vargur is probably the best one of Lvl 4s because it can salvage while fighting (Also, it has more tank, which might be required on some lvl4s).

Vargur. Cheap tank (LSB II.) More forgiving of screwups. Mach is more of a buffer tank and requires actively flying it. Mach has more DPS because its speed allows it to reduce falloff quickly.

Get the Vargur and then save up for a moderately pimped out Mach.

edit: This is in the context of running level 4s in high-sec.

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

It's nice to see that the forum search has been improved greatly, couldn't find anything with it before Roll

I didn't know the Vargur could compare with the Mach, salvaging is handy but now that the Noctis has been introduced I thought it was getting somewhat obsolete. For the time being I'll continue towards Minnie BS 5 + skills and see which one appeals more when I finally get there.

It does, very much so. In the context of L4's:

Varg has better tracking too so you can pick off frigs at ridiculously close ranges (in BS terms anyway) which is convenient even with you drones.
Varg has only 4 guns so using faction ammo is not at all a bad idea. Carrying a ton of all different flavors is perfectly doable.
I stick a cloak on mine so I can afk while having a smoke or whatever without fear.
I don't salvage with mine, if I do feel like salvaging (which is rare) I use a Noctis alt but I do stick one to two tractors on to pull in large wrecks to loot for tags on appropriate missions.
The Varg is, dare I say quick with a faction AB allowing you to easily dictate range making the extra tank rather meaningless at times but still nice for those oh sh1t moments.

I have a mach too but I just like the Varg way better. They are both awesome though to be sure.

If anyone ever looks at you and says,_ "Hold my beer, watch this,"_  you're probably going to want to pay attention.
