Best Ships for Lowsec Blood Raider PvE

So, I'm going to be doing a decent amount of lowsec PvE versus Blood Raiders soon, and it seems like their combinations of webs/neuts really just **** a lot of **** up.

I can fly pretty much everything sub BS except Gallente, because **** Gallente. The problems I seem to see are:

Tengu seems to have weak cap vs neuts with active fits. Neuts can be outranged but it makes things tricky.

Legion just doesn't have particularly stellar DPS, tank, or cap.

Loki's got fun tank, DPS is OK, but it's got lackluster range and cap.

Having never ratted against bloods before, I don't really know what to expect. I'm going to be running lots of DED sites and exploration sites. Any suggestions on what I should fly?

I was going to say shield passive Ishtar with drones but guess not :)

ishtar has lots of high slots open and it is hell of a tank, Drake? hell with the drake Ishtar is king.

I would not worry about neut though myself with Tengu just kill it. They are not that bad a stable Tengu can kill most things before they become a problem with neuts, webs are dangerous but with standard or faction ammo or precision webbers melt. No different then any other bloods really. EM Ammo a few standard, precision or faction to melt frigs and good to go. Tengu doesn't have to be active for pve either by the way, swiss army knife of caldari and the best ship the poor caldari can field.. unfortunately.

Plus tengu can be very good at probing and fighting at the same time. Not the most balanced but if you have good missile and probing skills you never have to change out ships for those cool Invuls. And please get many of them and drive the cost down 2.5 billion for a mod? Hahaha hell no.

I think they inserted these new Invul mods to break the crazy tag prices.

Edit: I sold all my tags tonight with the new mods just to be sure. I can only see them dropping in price.

drake/gila for 4/10 and blood annex

last room in the 5/10 requires a rattlesnake tank

active tengu can work for tanking in the 6/10. only certain BS have neuts. you'd want to bring something else to help dps the Lord at the end.

What kind of fit would I need to be looking at for that 6/10?

one that can tank 15-20 BS while webbed and stay out of the 30km neut range of the harbingers.

a standard level 4 mission fit would probably do it.

Also blood raiders tracking disrupt and neut rather than web and neut (Besides those elite frigates which scram and web, but thats the same with every pirate faction)

Now, more than ever, we need a dislike button.

I have done some 6 a 10 ageinst blood raiders and sansha. My experience with the tengu in the Rated 6 a 10 is that there are no neuts in the rated plex. but a singel tengu is gona have problems cracking the tank of the end boss.

for the unrated ones, Fortress and Military complexes. going in, turn on your AB away from them, and start hitting web tower followd by neuting cruisers. will keep u alive long enough. with the cap regen sub system on the tengu and 2 ccc rigs u are gona be able to tank some neuting as well.

For this plexes in low sec, alona ageinst the 6 a 10 u are gona need quite a expensive ship, if u pimp a legion i think it will deal with it. cuse the dmg on Blood raiders is kinda meh with tengu.

There are Blood Raiders sites that will nuke a Tengu's cap in under 15 seconds. It's unavoidable as you land on top of them. They are that bad. And their deeps will overwhelm a T2 rigged buffer fit soon after the lights go out, forget about an active setup. Popping the webs and/or scrams can & will lead to a new wave.

But hey, I wouldn't worry about it.

Tengu is your best all-around choice. Annex is quite doable as long as you pay attention and 6/10 is actually a cakewalk if you keep range (Crimson Lord won't pull his insane repping thing if you keep him at arm's length). Minor Annex won't work due to heavy neuting and webbing at warp in. 5/10 can be dicey in the last room but it works (snipe the overseer, bookmark wreck, and GTFO).

As for a fit on the 6/10, anything with the Accelerated Ejection Bay, 4 BCUs, and (umm; let's see if I can do the new names) Mjolnir Fury/CN Mjolnir heavies can kill him and if you immediately burn away damage isn't a problem in the least.

Sounds good, thanks! Do you have any specific fits you'd recommend?

I was asking myself kind of the same question.
After EFT warrioring a bit I found the Broadsword.
Minmatar ship get a good tank against Blood Raiders
due to high resists against their EM/Thermal dmg.
And it has the slot layout to make a really good
pure passive shield tank.
OTOH DPS is a bit low.

Since I cant fly it yet though I have no
practical experience with it.

How much do you want to spend? I've found this pays for itself pretty darn quickly:

[Tengu, exploration killer]
Ballistic Control System II
Ballistic Control System II
Ballistic Control System II
Ballistic Control System II

Gistii B-Type Small Shield Booster
Pithi C-Type Small Shield Booster
Pithum C-Type Magnetic Scattering Amplifier
Shield Boost Amplifier II
Republic Fleet 10MN Afterburner

Heavy Missile Launcher II
Heavy Missile Launcher II
Heavy Missile Launcher II
Heavy Missile Launcher II
Heavy Missile Launcher II
Heavy Missile Launcher II
Improved Cloaking Device II

Medium Gravity Capacitor Upgrade I
Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I
Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I

Tengu Defensive - Adaptive Shielding
Tengu Electronics - Dissolution Sequencer
Tengu Engineering - Augmented Capacitor Reservoir
Tengu Offensive - Accelerated Ejection Bay
Tengu Propulsion - Fuel Catalyst

This swaps out for an exploration fit:

[Tengu, exploration prober]
Ballistic Control System II
Ballistic Control System II
Ballistic Control System II

Gistii B-Type Small Shield Booster
Pithi C-Type Small Shield Booster
Pithum A-Type Magnetic Scattering Amplifier
Shield Boost Amplifier II
Republic Fleet 10MN Afterburner
Codebreaker I

Heavy Missile Launcher II
Heavy Missile Launcher II
Heavy Missile Launcher II
Heavy Missile Launcher II
Heavy Missile Launcher II
Sisters Expanded Probe Launcher, Sisters Deep Space Scanner Probe I
Covert Ops Cloaking Device II

Medium Gravity Capacitor Upgrade I
Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I
Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I

Tengu Defensive - Adaptive Shielding
Tengu Electronics - Emergent Locus Analyzer
Tengu Engineering - Augmented Capacitor Reservoir
Tengu Offensive - Covert Reconfiguration
Tengu Propulsion - Fuel Catalyst

Shrug. They look a bit odd, but they work. Swapping out the Dissolution Sequencer for a CPU Efficiency Gate opens up more options for the mids on the first one (drop a booster for another boost amp or an invuln), but the extra range is really, really nice to have. Just don't get neuted; your cap stability isn't bad but it isn't great either. Should provide enough time to gtfo if you do screw up and find yourself in, say, a Minor Annex against all advice.
