I like the name change! And finally there was a patch in like 6 years where you actually see some changes after a patch! :-)

Obfuscating the meta levels with 1001 different names was always a crazy idea in my mind. I'm a big supporter of the "eve is hard" mantra but it should be made hard like it was.

That said it will now be confusing as hell for anyone who knows and remembers the original names.

I much prefer the new names to the old ones, I was fed up of having to serach 1mn microwardrive then click show info and look up variations to buy the names ones I want

Bravo CCP should simplify it for the new guys who join eve aswell 1 less thing to get confused over

When is Eve online being renamed to "Internet Spaceship Game"?
You have to keep these things simple for new users.

Maybe rename ships to "Big ship", "Small Ship"?

You know a company got it right if customers are content when a change to their product does not break it.

I also don't think that making the game less interesting is really a step in the right direction. A much smaller and smarter change would've been to rename as follows: "Y-T8 Overcharged Hydrocarbon 10mn MWD"

Benefits?

  • Can enter 10mn or Y-T into any search window and have the item listed.
  • Does not produce results like "425mm Medium Prototype Automatic Cannon" when you are looking for a prototype MWD

Same goes for missiles. Easiest way to change the naming convention would've been to call them: "Scourge Kinetic Heavy Missile"
Not that either was really required, mind you, but rather than dumbing the game down in ways that actually takes away functionality, you would've gained something out of it.

Stop changing module names, they were cool.
New players can learn them easly, old players must get used to new names, which is not good.
RIP scourge heavy missile, RIP catalyzed gold-gas, RIP Y-T8 :(
