I found a wormhole while exploring in my Thorax (w/ T2 Blasters) yesterday. I went through and discovered it was a C3 only after finding some sleepers and having to warp away. I came back in my drake and managed to down the first 2 waves, when the BS size ship spawned with some cruisers I couldn't take them (Passive Omni setup) I looted what I had destroyed and left. In around 10 minutes I had made about 15 million ISK. I was quite pleased. I'll be doing this again but I'll try to find a C2 next time.

Can anyone give me any advice?

OH.. tried to salvage but it said I didn't have the skills required, guessing I need lvl 5 and some T2 module? Or just lvl 5 salvage

This type of setup always seemed to work well, still takes forever to kill some of the BS spawns tho
If your scanning in a Thorax then have a salvager fittied to the Drake instead.
Better still join a WH corp for some decent isk making opportunities

A couple of Tengus will of course make short work of any C3 combat site

You don't need salvaging at 5, or T2 salvagers. level 4 is sufficient. 5 and T2 should make salvaging faster however.

This is a good setup to start with, but when you get some stronger fitting skills, try swapping out a shield recharger II for another Large Shield Extender II.

Also, don't be afraid to use T2 ammo if you have T2 launchers; precision for frigates, fury for cruisers/battleships will up your DPS significantly. If you can't or you don't want to juggle ammo, use Caldari Navy ammo (Trauma I think they call it now).

From the sounds of things you want to stick to C1/C2 wormholes. There isn't a big difference in difficulty (DPS will be your barrier), and only a slight difference in loot. The biggest thing is there will be many more frigates and thus a lot more salvage in Class 1s which will be more time consuming.

You should aim for around 450 omni tank, try and get all resist at the same %. Obax's fit has an EM hole, don't have HQ on work PC, but I think it will be fairly big. You only need lvl 4 salvaging.. its actually a must if you going into a C3 or above as you get most of your melted nano's from salvaging the BS. Buy orders for them in Jita at the moment is 8,8mil. also done sell your "blue" loot, the drone ai's etc at the hubs.. you actually get less for them.

Read the mission guides, some have RR cruisers and it easier to take them out before the BS. I use scourge fury for bs and CN scourge for everything else. They may be expensive.. but it makes a difference and worth if. i never found precision to be of any great value.
