Proposal - Steal and unanchor offline towers and mods

Hi CCP

There must be literally 1000s of mods and towers in space that are offlined with many more mods attached to it that are still anchored especially in WH space.

Would CCP consider that we can steal these and have the ability to unanchor if a pos is offline. Surely there should be an element of risk if you forget to fuel your poses, and im sure this will help clean up new eden of so much space debris that just doesnt need to be there, and perhaps help with server performance in the long run.

Maybe, for people who will start getting upset give it a week countdown timer before it can be unanchored by anyone, just in case it was a genuine mistake, but still offering the risk if you dont, and for people who have just simply abandoned it.

thanks for listening

NO

Been suggested hundreds of times over the years, it was a terrible idea then and it is a terrible idea now.

Whether they are playing the game actively at the moment does not matter that tower and anything attached belongs to another player or group of players and you cannot have it simply by un-anchoring it and scooping it out of space.

If it's presence offends you or bothers you in some way then shoot the damned thing like you are supposed to do, if it is truly offline and abandoned then you will get no response from the owners. Yes I do know what it takes to kill a POS especially in high sec, been there are done that more times than I care to think about.

POS are going away at some point in time to be replaced by other structures, why waste dev time changing something that is going to be removed from the game.

Oh and last you would get a -1 simply because you did not bother to search to find the hundreds of other times this has been suggested.

Wardec them.

They're going to be deleted in the near future anyways.

EVE FAQ "7.2 CAN I AVOID PVP COMPLETELY? No; there are no systems or locations in New Eden where PvP may be completely avoided"

Daichi Yamato's version of structure based decs

another troll getting it completely wrong and getting in a rage and posted on forums.

It doesnt offend me whatsoever. But the amount of space litter in this game does. Oh and when they are in WH you cant exactly go back, because you know reinforced and all that. Also its cleaning up new eden, im sure having all that space litter is having some impact on server performance. POSes wont be going for sometime.

i guess
if (offline & offlinedover7days) = true then showunanchoroption is going to take months of devs time too...

Also why should i be able to just unanchor it, if its offline? especially for weeks. Clearly no one wants it. I dont want to shoot it for a KM wheres the fun in that, I want to steal it for fun and isk or even use it myself. If youre stupid enough to leave it unfuel then thats your fault.

But i guess thats not what eves about right? being outlandish, stealing and griefing ejavascript:if (typeof posting=='undefined'||posting!=true) {posting=true;__doPostBack('forum$ctl00$PostReply','');}tc? oh wait....YES IT IS....
Funny that only suits people when well when it suits them....

whoops, quoted and posted without the meat. Now i might have been drunk at the time, but for some reason i remember shooting an offlined tower into structure, then completely repping back up again after it unanchored itself. Then after everything was repped it was able to be removed.

This was around 2007 or 2008, which was my hallucenation-level-****-drunk-on-tequilla days, but someone got evicted in omist and left a tower up but offlined. Different days then of course. Get off my lawn young'uns.

Use the force without consent and the court wont acquit you even if you are a card carryin', robe wearin' Jedi.

Not everyone plays this game on a daily basis.
I know many people who have 8 to 10 years in this game and they routinely take 3 to 6 months time off to do other things in life like spend time with family. What makes you think it is OK for you to simply pick up and fly away with things that they own in this game because they choose to take a break? I hear you now then they should offline, unanchor and remove their POS, why should they have to do that because you are offended by it's presence in space? Yes they are aware that their corp may be war decced and their POS destroyed when they are gone and they accept that risk.

As a veteran with many friends still in active military service to many nations around this world this whole idea raises another concern. Many of those people are routinely called to duties that do not allow them access to games such as EvE online, those duties can take them away from home, family and their favorite computer games like EvE for 6 to 9 months or more at a time. What makes you think it is OK to take something that belongs to them simply because duties to country prevent them from playing this or any other computer game? Yes I know unanchor and remove it before they go on tour of duty, and I can tell you from personal experience that there may not be enough time to do that. But like above the real question is why should they have to take these additional steps simple because you do not like the space litter. And yes these people like the group above are aware of the risks due to war dec and they accept them.
