I'm confused about how the staff at CCP see their jobs, and the customer.

Why would the game spawn sites that have no loot, enticing players to engage in PVE that must be extremely frustrating, and turn them away from the game?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not suddenly bitter because of one bad site. i haven't lost a ship, or even too much time. I've learned long ago not to do data sites in null, or at least to scan every can and only take the 1 in 100 that is worth the time. Today I scanned down a Limited Sleeper Site, a level 4 data site in nulsec. OK, I thought. TAKE A SCANNER.

for those who don't know, this is a "highly valuable site". Very rare, very exciting, apparently.

So I went in and scanned all the cans. There was nothing of value. There was literally not one can worth hacking. I scanned them all twice, because I could not believe it was true. It was true. So, I left. thank god I had a scanner, I thought. I would have been enraged, had I wasted all that time on a broken game mechanic.

Why?

Why bother spawning the site in the first place? It doesn't make sense. Why not spawn nothing at all, and let the player seek some other avenue that will not waste their time for zero result?

Did some person think about this issue? Did a person actually decide "Yeah, that's a good idea. Let's spawn site with nothing in them, out in null, and let's call them Level 4." Surely not? it's perverse. I think the only answer is that nobody has even looked at the issue, despite thousands of complaints.

I wonder if the staff are still being paid their salaries. This is a quality issue. The game is not being maintained. It isn't fit for purpose. The staff are not doing their jobs.

I understand your frustration, I can only offer theories and no factual reasons as to why that is happening.

The site could be bugged in which players should report it, even if it's not actually bugged.

Someone else might have visited the site earlier and collected up all the good loot.

The loot tables have been nerfed so bad that those sites are no longer worthwhile.

The RNG aspect of the loot tables just happened to be very bad on that roll.

Anyway, I suggest checking more of those sites and keep a record, then you'll have a better idea of what's happening and how to approach the situation.

Data Sites used to be worth something but between the Scanning changes and removal of the NPCs the market was flooded and pricing tanked.

Relics are only OK because of the increased demand caused by Citadels (They still tanked, ie an intact armor plate used to be 30+ mil )

Sleeper caches are different beasts than your regular hacking sites. You need to hack cans in order to disable the various traps scattered around, to activate gates, and to make other cans show and/or become lockable.

I'm guessing you scanned the initial first can, which opens up a gate (at first invisible) to a second room with more cans. It does not contain any loot, you're basically hacking the lock on the front door.

You must be new or something, mate!

These are the things CCP considers good ideas.

-Incarna (if you remember this OP, i apologize for the are you new thing)
-Ghost Training
-Broken Ship distribution from EVE Fest
-1% of 1%

Everything is considered a good idea by normal people get you terminated in iceland.

however i do support the other reply here about bad RNG - this happens often, i do Data sites in WH which really is the same as null and sometimes it's good and mostly it's not.

like RNG in every other game.

or as EVE Online would have it...
