I am a little confused, ever since I did some searching on DataCenters ect. my browser (Firefox) appears to have been taken over by this:
http://prntscr.com/fx32si
http://prntscr.com/fx333l

I cannot find a way to remove it, and every search for it I do I find people saying "its Cool" and stuff like that, well I do not think that it is cool, because I never asked for it.

The only thing I can think of is that one of the old forums links I clicked asked about cookies, a pretty standard thing I think, and I clicked "got it" as I trust all the sites I go to. mostly

Has anyone seen this before? is it safe? how do I remove it.

I have tried Malwarebytes and my system appears to be clean.

Any pointers or info would be appreciated.

Yeah good point

How about just Googling " wayback machine "?

I think it is a browser plug in or something, not to clued up on the stuff tbh.
It does not appear on every website I open, just a few, one of those is simple a screenshot of Dotlan showing the system data of Ahtulaima in the forge, where some data agent are in space.
and the other is Evelopedia, showing "DATA CENTERS" information guides.
I am sure I came by this wayback archive thing by clicking a link on the old (old) forum archives (used to be run I believe by Chribba) after searching for Data Centers information and guides.

It does not happen if I open these forums, Facebook or do random google searches, just those two mainly and I use Dotlan a lot and have never seen it before yesterday.

The Wayback machine is an archive.

It is used for accessing dead sites like EvElopedia.

You may have installed a Firefox addon to use it. Check your addons.

This. You've either installed an addon, or changed your browser's default search engine to wayback.

I clicked on the links because i wasn't born in the 1750's and knew that hovering over them shows actual link destination. (and that the forums won't let you just go directly from here to an outbound destination without warning you what their destinations are.)

But yeah, looks like you have the appropriate answers. I remember The Wayback Machine, i got it on my dad's comp when i was 17, during my first eve trial in 07. He thought it was a virus, but further review showed that it was just an add-on. Pretty easily removed through your browser settings.

The wayback machine is a archived snapshot of past web pages that are no longer available to view.

That banner in the picture links you posted only shows when accessing the wayback machine.

I access the wayback machine quite regularly to view info contained within Evelopedia.

I use Firefox browser and have never been prompted to install an addon for the wayback machine.

Any links clicked on the page accessed by the wayback machine will use the wayback machine to open them.

To exit the wayback machine, either close that browser tab or paste a regular web site address into your browser search bar.

That's it, nothing to worry about, it's not a virus, addon or malware. It's simply another web site that allows you to view web pages from the past.

Thanks for all the good info, it had started to dawn on me that maybe it really was an achive, simply because evlopedia is no longer live, my confusion came when it appeared on Dotlan, but I guess I must have searched the archive (Wayback Machine) for the system of the Data Agents, hense it appeared on Dotlan which has obviously already been archived to some extent. If I open an url to Dotlan direct it does not appear.
