Player Features and Ideas Discussion

Well, to be more specific this is my Jita alt, not a forum alt.

I don't post on my main for opsec reasons, for alliance policy reasons (someone wearing our tag represents our alliance), and because I choose to. I value my anonymity as much in-game as I do out of the game.

So I ask you. If the green and red on my killboard are moot (as you say it's not about pvp rating), what credibility do I gain by posting from a different name? Coralas is correct in that your position is based on a logical fallacy. It would be like me refuting what you say simply because your pvp rating sucks (by your own words)... which specifically would be ad hominem and/or genetic fallacies. https://yourlogicalfallacyis.com/poster.

Whether you agree with a suggestion or not does not make it bad. And as you've not debated the (lack of) merit of the topic at all, you've yet to contribute anything meaningful at all to this thread.

Specifically underlined in my OP is the note that this would be huge, and the whole point of this is that "how it is" doesn't make sense from a logical standpoint.

I also note that given the significance, this particular "suggestion" was not a suggestion so much of an observation based on the merits of the concept, not on a change I would like to see.

I'm not missing anything, you are just trying to put the same broken idea forward, but louder this time.


I'll give you my reasoning for not liking the posters idea.

(a) you can currently min-max your training to avoid either shield or armor altogether for some period of time.
- this allowed me to have more or less the same pvp vexor fit I use now, when this character was a couple of months old, so I could play a particular role in pvp effectively at a similar level to older characters, early in my career.

(b) not all ships can change much of their damage type.
- so they won't break the part of the tank that works against their damage type if the triple tank game design was made sustainable, or they have to be so overpowering that no tank will work.

(c) ship fits would dominated by tank modules (because you'd need every type of tanking module).

(d) refitting pve ships for different resist profiles for different npc's in your next mission would suck, right now you just change your resists, in this model its probably a case of using a differently rigged hull and a different set of skills, so you'd need all the skills to be a mission runner, which is a big delay.

(e) trying to fit all of the same ship fits onto every ship because every ship now needs the same tank all of the things tank.

As this character has trained skills, I've used active armor, buffered armor, and then later active shield and recently buffered shield. I have hull buffer and kiting fits that I will probably use in the near future, and I like that those are all distinct fitting and play styles, for which the counter is more complex than "shoot the right damage type".
