I'm curruntly running sites in null sec, and I'd like to know if it's worth the effort to run sites that are supposed to escalate. Do they escalate often enough ? Once they escalated, is their an RNG for each escalation stage or you're sure to be able to go till the end of the escalation ?

They escalate after you done XX sites (can't remember how many, I think around 20 or so). If you do havens and sanctums they escalate to 10/10 expeditions. You can read about all of them here https://www.fuzzwork.co.uk/evelopedia/index.php/DED_Complex_List

If you don't have skills to do them, then you can easily sell the expedition. In Guristas region they sell usualy for 100-150 mils, in Angels space the price was around 130 mils.

Other expeditions don't sell very well, because the reward from them is much smaller then from 10/10

Thanks for answering, but my question isn't about DEDs escalation, as running DEDs is always worth anyway. I'm questionning about complex that aren't really worth running on their own (such as 'Sansha Military Complex" for exemple) but that have a chance to escalate.

The absolute minimum reward you get out of 10/10 escalations is around 120mil in form of overseer personal effects. It is up you for how much you decide to sell your escalations if you do not intend to run them yourself, but personally I consider prices beyond 80-100mil to be a **** move amongst corp mates. Asking 120mil+ for an escalation might already earn you some angry comments, but that surely depends on how much you value your corpmates/how replaceable the individual is in your corp.

Guess it depends if you can quickly complete the site. If so then why not collect the bounty's and hopefully gain an expedition in the process. As for your other questions.

The chance to get an escalation to expedition is RNG.

The chance to get an escalation on each stage of an expedition is RNG.

And last but not least, the chance of getting loot from each stage of the expedition is RNG.

Hope that helps and good luck to you.

For proper unrated sites the escalation chance changes from site to site. IE an Annex or Minor Annex have a chance that's somewhere around 50%. But something like a Outpost / Provisional Outpost is very very low.

Have not run enough NS sites to say what they are like.

Stay away from escalations. they are a mechanic that is specifically designed to increase pvp by taking folks outside their local area. They are NOT a mechanic designed to benefit the folks being used as bait for the intended beneficiaries of the mechanic.

there are loads of mechanics like this in eve. The risk vs reward is all broken, so if doing pve is your thing, stay local and don't waste the time and effort moving 9 jumps through hostile null.

What happens when you travel all that way, and then you get chased off the site by a roaming blob? How much time do you lose, even if you get away despite having nowhere to dock within many systems?

That only has to happen once and then you understand that the special rewards of escalations (there aren't any) do not make any sense at all.

You can make vastly better isk doing simple combat sites for the bounty ticks, or hunting clone soldiers in low sec.

Escalations = broken, badly conceived, clumsy and abandoned mechanic.

I REALLY would like to know what makes you so sure this is RNG.
The fact that we do not know how CCP implemented the drop does not mean it is RNG.
