Android Application

Dear CCP,

I recently utilized the built in functions of the android app store (google play store) in accordance with standard google play rules, to contact the developer. I simply looked at the app, reviewed many similar problems being reported by users, and scrolled to the bottom where it mentioned Developer and contact. The problem is this:

I have personally been rather frustrated due to the android app working perfectly for everything except 1 small thing: It notifies you that you have an eve mail; but then refuses to show it. It opens up, tells you who it is from, the subject, who it went to, and then fails miserably and states 'Connection Error'. This is extremely repeatable, as is evidenced by many other unfavorable 1 and 2 star reviews on the app store.

I believe the response I got was lacking in protocol. You can find these rules under the Store Listing and Promotion policy rules, and include things on Ratings, Reviews, and Installs. Specifically there are simple etiquette things such as
Quote:
Ratings and reviews are benchmarks of app quality.
It continues on to note that a developer should
Quote:

Keep your reply focused on the issues raised in the user's comments and don’t ask for a higher rating.
Include references to helpful resources such as a support address or FAQ page.

These are Google's policies in order to maintain good standing on the app store. I was definitely not given anything on any topic at all, nor given references or troubleshooting references from a FAQ.

Now, I know I'm treading a line here, as the forum policy Rule 1 for eve online prohibits trolling, flaming, ranting, personal attacks, harassment, etc. I am not attempting to troll, flaming, ranting, nor personally attacking or harassing any individual employee. Rule 2 notes that due to ESRB Teen and PEGI 12 ratings, and politics and religion, I am not allowed to post any discussions on moderation nor 'private communication with CCP'. I judge that my further text is immune to that clause, as it is clearly not offensive nor impacting the Teen rating of the game forums nor referencing current affairs, news, politics or religion. So I will post verbatim the exact response I got from CCP, and what I had posted to CCP in the built in functions of the android app store to contact the developer in the legal way:

To CCP ( and apologies for bad typing...did it with phone naturally):
Quote:
Dear Beautiful People of CCP,

Please have a look at the eve Android app. It has been seriously broken forever. I am pretty sure it is a simple settings tweak in the app itself in regard to network connection for eve mail transfer. It is just plain useless...if you end up getting it fixed I think several this and people will be excited about it.

Right now it is just another piece of abandonware.

And in reply from CCP I got:
Quote:
Hello,

I’m sorry you are having this issue. Unfortunately I won’t be able to help resolve this issue through this email address, you need to contact our customer service team by summiting on our website or a direct your email to our customer support at support@eveonline.com.

Regards,

CCP Games

I would like to request that CCP please consider changing the Eve Online android app to correctly list this preferred email contact. If you are going to simply tell users to find another way to contact your company, maybe we should all just save time and do it correctly the first time.

This is also sort of along the same lines as the Eve Launcher's 'Bug Report' button. I think I've used it twice. Both times I was told to press F12 in game and then repeat myself in a new text box. I think all of your users would probably enjoy that Bug Report button just plain disappearing if you aren't going to take it seriously anyway. Since that is going away, and (maybe I'm wrong and just blind) there doesn't seem to be any way to get to that F12 bug system from the escape menu...perhaps we could add the bug report button back to that escape menu like it used to be years ago.

Now, before I get modded down, post deleted, or banned - please not that I am attempting to follow rule 3 to the best of my ability. I am posting constructively. I believe I have been reasonably civil and factual, and anybody can reproduce the issue at will. This is really about efficiently passing work to the appropriate people on a staff; not flaming, politics or religion. This wasn't intended to be a 'feature request' necessarily for the game itself....it is simply following through on the android platform. I add the part about removing a distracting link on the launcher and returning the button that went to same place as the F12 hotkey as further testimony on not really taking feedback seriously - which is a potential cultural issue and not a hard technical issue.

The app itself does indeed seem sorted today. Thanks to the Dev that fixed the thingy that has been hit or miss for over a year!

Curious if the listing in the app store got fixed or not. If all they're going to do is tell you to contact somebody else at that email address...well it is clearly going to the wrong email address. Even if they didn't fix it to go to a more correct address...how hard would it be to simply send it to the correct people rather than telling dudes to try again? Literally take exact same time.

At any rate, heading to android store now to upgrade my rating. Hopefully everybody else will too.
