Damps and ECM vs Drone Boats

I can't figure out how drones react to these modules sometimes they will go crazy and destroy the E-War ship and other times they will just ignore it and all other ships attacking you, it seems to follow no logical pattern and is nothing more than a glitch/exploit that people use to get kills.

Please enlighten me to the wonderful reasoning behind this ?

I also noticed this and it would be nice to know. The "aggressive" setting for drones seems to be random, instead of being aggressive.

I wonder if its bugged.

Based on my observations drones do not react to ongoing violence, they react to the initiation of violence. So if the drones are not on the field they will not react to violence that has already commenced once they are launched. Thus if you are being effected by e-war they won't react until a new e-war interaction is initiated.

Once drones have reacted though, they will continue to attack all other active enemies. But they tend to primary the first ship they notice initiating violence. They will ignore all enemies that are red boxing until they are triggered in that manner.

Drones have always been special dandruff flakes.

Ok but one ship damps while 5 others shoot you from outside your damped targeting range but within your drone control range but the drones do not attack any of them ?

Working as intended.

If the target is damped then he cannot lock the aggressors so he has no control over what the drones attack.

The drones only auto-attack when they see new aggression and unless one of the aggressors reloads or causes aggression in some other way (point/web/whatever) there will be no "new" aggression to "see". The aggression is caused by activating the module/gun, not when it cycles.

Used to be a decent way to kill carriers with small gangs, dunno if that's still the case or not - probably not Ugh

Drones are like a semi-autonomous weapon system. As explained above they respond to the initiation of any agressive act - and therefore can be an effective method for target lock interfering EWAR such as SD and ECM. The only other reasonable means a pilot has for attacking under the influence of ECM and SD is the Auto-targetting missile. Which have terrible damage application.

If you are in an EWAR boat and recieving drone agro you need to combat this by either mitigating the Drone's ability to apply damage and there are a number of ways of doing this.

1. Burning away with MWD;
2. Burning outside of the opponents drone control range;
3. Defensively scramming or webbing drones which get too close;
4. Activating SD, ECM, or ECM Bursts on the drones themselves to break the drones personal target locking.

Well they attacked the drones did nothing, this does not only happen if the drones are not deployed prior to the attack.
