I had the same problem as you described.

In my Corp Assets it said it was still in the system. Inside a Hanger Container.

I direction scanned the planets and found a Hanger Container warped to the nearest Planet. Direction Scanned more and in the distance I found a small blue box 4 au away. Tried warping to it no option to do that. However there was a option to Scoop.

Selected Scoop and hauler warped to the Hanger Container. Opened it and rescued my items, fuel and station modules.

Citadal was sitting there so scooped that (8000m3 needed).

I understand this my well be a bit late to help you but others may just find there decommissioned Citadals.
