Hey everyone, I would like to use this thread as a point where feedback can be collected about the new iteration of Project Discovery that just went live on SiSi.

Some feedback points right off the bat:

  • If we get a skin every level, and levelling costs more and more EXP, isn't that prone to abuse by just making alts/alpha's? Same goes for the fixed rank rewards. Also, is the max reward at 250? This will be completed extremely fast.
  • The green or red feedback bar takes to long to appear. One can easily click to the next screen without even being able to read it.
  • The tutorial does not work.
  • The EXP bar is quite small and in the submit screen there is no EXP bar incrementing, except for the 'larger' one. Please add the normal EXP bar to this screen as well.
  • No option to request a new sample
  • No option to notify researchers when a super strange light pattern is found.
  • I have encountered only a few control samples, how many are there and can the 'spawn' rate of the control samples be increased at accuracy levels under, say, 80%?
  • Sometimes the zoom function gets stuck

As of my try on tutorial, it worked so tutorial issue seems to be solved.

I am wondering If we can get "tools" that we can use to determine the validity of our selection our selves.
Tools such as: local average finder, horizontal line marker, and deviation from average(local or total) would be helpful it seems.

EDIT: it is possible to select another transit after confirming a transit. just figured out by accident :P
(We might need to be able to select multiple planet candidate instead of only single planet. )

And possibly longer data sample?

Hello there. just doing a bit of the new project discovery.

As a none scientist I would really like to see more explanation on why I faild. in the tutorial there is a sample where it seems to be no transit, but after hitting submit. there is one marked, but from my amateur viewpoint, there seems to be no pattern over all data points. Failing isent the point, I want to know more about why, and how to spot them better

1: N/A
2: N/A
3: Tutorial works now
4: N/A
5: Not sure why you would need one, if theres no dips, then just state "No planets". Its not like the protein one where theres always a cell, many times there is no planet.
6: There is the star type options, but it could be elaborated on in terms of more options.
7: I havent seen this issue, all of mine were unique, but after about 10, it seemed that I hit the end of the road in terms of mass solving, and started to see many where the averages werent built up enough yet to come to a conclusion.
10: Its a weird system, but you can only zoom when your cursor is over the shaded zoom indication area (which shrinks as you zoom)

Ok, my questions:
Is the orbital period measured in Earth days?
What exactly is Epoch? After Googling it appeared to be the distance at a specific time, what is the time? min distance? max distance? avg distance? and what is the distance measured in, AU?

Since you're asking for feedback about making PD more popular:

* have you considered making a Project Discovery app for tablets?

This would allow people to do PD on their commute on the way to work and then synch the results/score later in the day. In all honesty, I'm not going to spend my online time doing PD. I'd rather just roam and pvp. But i'd definitely do it on my off time while wasting time waiting for an appointment or whatever. I see it as potentially win-win.

Just an idea. Idea

I'm currently up to about sample 14 and i have a few comments suggestions.

1. When you complete an analysis you get what i think of as the "Results" page that highlights all points involved with the transit. When i get "analysis failed" the green and red dots tend to mask the data. would it be possible to add toggle button to turn them on and off so you can look at the raw data. Some of the transition events are very subtle and I'm having trouble determining what they look like.

2. So far i have only gotten "analysis successful" for zero transits or one transits. I've had at least two cases there i could see possibly a second transit.

3. Can you add a button somewhere that pops up a window to give pictorial examples of what transitions can look like. The tutorial gives you some, but by the time you have completed it, you have forgotten what some of them look like. Some of them are very subtle.

4. In 1 out of about 10 i see a possible single transition event, but not another one to establish a period. How do i mark that single possible transition even?

5. You have 4 classifications of stars, but a lot of the samples to work on do not fit any of them. So is an "Other" option useful here?

The 'Other' option here is not clicking any of them.

Just some examples of misidentifications from system with comments on pictures Running into problems like that quite often What?

EDIT: this is not from test server, this is tranquility release from today... Havent found TQ feedback on the topic, so if any is available, please let me know so i can put this there too.
