Check the recruitment forums or the in-game channel 'Recruitment'. You should find some corps recruiting there.

I'd be a bit careful with that page as there's no way to verify how accurate that listing is and how good, active and useful those corps on that list really are. The simple fact that Goonswarm is listed without mentioning the very real danger of being scammed while trying to get in makes me very much doubt the validity of that whole list.

Welcome to Eve and i hope you will enjoy your time here Big smile

Its rough to find a corp,so a while back i wrote a small "guide" for recruits and younger players. Others added in their own advice as well and things i forgot to mention so it will give you a good idea on what to watch out for,and what to look for.

I wish you the best of luck in finding a corp!

I would suggest looking at Eve University. There purpose is to train new players.

And just so you know, never use the words 'guild', 'clan', 'quests' and other wow-sounding terms when you talk in the rec channel.. Smile

On a helpful note, be very careful when applying from the channel. There are many scammers trying to scam the newbies in that channel. Do a background check (google) on any corp you are planing to enter.

Amazing how we're such a large alliance if we scam everyone who joins, huh?

Amazing isn't it if you would recruit from EVE player base without them being a member of somethingwaful-forums.

I wont say anything about Goon members having to registrer on somethingawful.

Goon's do have a bad reputation for scamming people, but considering how many players there are in Goons there is bound to be people that are more then willing to do something like this for fun. That dosent really mean that "everyone" in GS is "bad" or scams noobs.

Keep in mind i dont actually know anyone in GS,but i know a couple of former members and this is just the impression i have gotten from them. Weather or not this is the case i cant say for sure.

It doesn't, but everyone in Goonswarm is bad, in the all-encompassing, soul-devouring definition of "bad" reserved for "irredeemably bad but you live with it" stuff like Windows, or rap music.

Trolling aside, the experience in Goonswarm and the CFC in general (including TEST and others) is very different from the rest of Eve. It's unique: safe 0.0 space with lots of roams and stuff to do, lots of PvE opportunities, lots of people around, etc -- essentially, Eve in "easy mode". Some call this a triumph of Goonswarm, but some don't see the point of it. Why play Eve in a "cold, harsh universe" if all your problems are solved for you?

Anyway, that's my spiel I try to give to newbies excited about joining CFC or similar.

I thought about Eve-Uni until I saw this glaring piece of mis-information on their site:
Quote:
· When wrecks and containers are abandoned, they will turn blue. This means it's alright to loot and/or salvage them. However, when they are yellow and you either loot and/or salvage them, you are stealing.
· Since owners have the option of abandoning their wrecks and containers, anyone looting and/or salvaging their property while it's yellow are stealing from them.

Failure to make new players clearly aware of the difference between loot and and salvage is unforgiveable.

Er... that's exactly how theft mechanics work. What are you talking about? Edit: Ohhh, I missed your last sentence. Loot vs. salvage. You should point that out to them, because that is indeed wrong.

It's not wrong in their eyes at least. that's the UNI doctrine of Carebears Online.

Fixed it now, thanks for bringing it to our attention. The quote is from the UniWiki, which anyone can edit, and whoever wrote that particular entry apparently got confused between it being part of the lexicon for everyone, and quoting from an old E-UNI rule thread.

So no, salvaging someone else's wreck isn't stealing, but its still not a 'friendly' thing to do, which is why we ask our members not to do that.

I think this falls into the category generally known as 'being economic with the truth'.

Quote:
NOTE : Ninja Salvaging is against E-Uni rules. If you do it, you will be punished. I haven't done any Ninja Salvaging so I don't know much about it. This section is here to help you when you encounter Ninja Salvagers or if you want to become one after leaving E-Uni. If you dropped out during war and want to be back, don't do it. If you have a ninja salvager alt and it can be traced back to your character in E-Uni, don't do it.

Quote:
It cannot be emphasized enough that ninja salvaging and griefing is against E-Uni rules. You may be kicked with no chance of rejoining.

One of the first qualities I would look for in a corp is honesty.

I can think of only one reason for which a corp could justifiably ban Ninja Salvaging, but it doesn't seem to be the case here. Every reference to it that I've so far found on the Eve-Uni site links it to either griefing or stealing, neither of which is true.

Nor is it "unfriendly". How could it be? It's a perfectly legal and legitimate mini-career with no criminal or griefing connotations whatsoever. No harm is done to anybody and everyone has equal opportunity.

The concept of a "University" carries an implication of excellence and any organisation giving itself that title should offer its members unbiased education and encouragement in all matters of legitimate gameplay.
