Cannot login to new forums. Just gets stuck at character confirmation page. Click the character and "Confirm", nothing happens.

Jeez . . . they look ****ing terrible.

Can't comment on what they're like to use 'cos it's impossible to log in.

Click 'Log in' > select character > click 'Confirm' > . . . nothing.

Gotta say I'm not a fan of the new format. WAY too much wasted space.

wouldn't inflict the new forums on my worst enemies.

how about not wasting the space with the thread stats at the bottom of the op for starters?

corp/alliance affiliation would be nice

too much wasted space on either side of the forum thread. not compact enough.

edit: Everything outside of the red box is wasted space:

WHY????? it is entirely unnecessary.

tl:dr: your layout sucks

also this part of the post is bad and not needed, let me dismiss it and focus on the op and the thread itself.

who gives a **** about the thread stats?

I guess I'll have to move over and stick to reddit, which isn't complete ****

As I have posted a few times on the new facebook forums, the following needs to be altered:

1. Removal of the infinite scrolling. This is a forum, not facebook.
2. Implementation of pages, or do you enjoy reading novels on a scroll?
3. A clear distinction between posting content and the actual forum itself. (much like the current forums)
4. More distinction between threads on the forum
5. Better separation and colour management between sub forums.

The reasons for the above are this:

1. A forum by its definition a place where people (and the odd bot) can post ideas and thoughts in a public space and also where people can read the content in a manner that is typical of human standards. Infinite scrolling is not a native way for people to read information in a concise manner. Yes, BookSpace of MyFace introduced such nonsense to the human realm, but it was never designed for someone to sit there and scroll through the veritable posts, comments and cat pictures to get to the bottom.

Its a design of laziness. A fact that as arisen partly from programmers trying to make their own lives easier, with less "code bloat" with having to program in lines of code to establish the page system, and also stems from the human desire to have information NOWNOWNOW without the ideal of something called "waiting". It doesn't help that a pure golden post could be located deep down in the infinite wall of noise and debate, and become lost due to that infinite nature. Yes, the new forums have a "bookmarking" feature, but that is never helpful if you never knew the post was there in the first place.

2. Pages are a defining feature of the current wave of forums. They break information down into more managed sizes, so that we can understand them better. Its how we currently store ideas and knowledge into physical formats, and even certain digital platforms do it as well (infamously the click-bait 15-page sites). It is what we are used to as a species, and should continue to use because it works, and call me old fashioned, but we shouldn't fix what isn't broken under the guise of attempting to jump ahead of the competition with an idea which will not work.*

3/4/5. These fall under the same idea, but i split them up to make the point a bit more clear. the New Forums appearance is a jumbled mess. Whilst efforts have been made to make it a bit more clear between each area, it still falls over itself, ending up looking like a bit of a mess with little separation between each forum. Also, the whole idea of a forum index page should have the effect of being like a contents page of a book - everything is listed and easily found. The Discourse style of forum layout does not match that trend fully, with the user having to go down and then across to find their topic of choice rather than the standard Down-Down of a typical forum.

So a final message for CCP: You are being premature in terminating the posting access to these forums and moving onto a system that is unfriendly. Please reconsider your move to the Discourse system and look elsewhere.

*I have already investigated this aspect, which under the current Discourse version is impossible. It might not even ever get implemented.

Can you create an optional skin for the new forum that can be chosen - so it'll look and behave like this one? Will be very appreciated.

It's not bad, but i don't like it - perhaps i'm just getting too old for this new shiny "mobile friendly" designs.

i must admit that i rarely post on the forums nowadays but i regularly read whats going on. Sadly with the release of the new forums, that will end. Personally, they look horrible. they are too shiny, too clean, and less easy to read/find what im looking for. A definite backwards step for me.
