Blaster & Other Close Range Weapons/Ships

I searched about a good chunk of the forums and dev blogs and came up dry.

My question comes down to, are the shorter range weapons & ships on the "balance" schedule?
I ask as we have a lot of very fine PvP/PvE ships and weapons that really don't get used ... unless someone happens to decloak off a gate too close to a blaster boat. :-)

Other than that, the current "keep at far range" or "kitey" meta has completely overshadowed many of these short range boats/weapons.

The current meta may not be brawler, but it doesn't mean that the weapons themselves are bad. Wormhole PVP has been väbrawly for a long time, but the cheapness of bhaalgorns and the overall neut-heavy meta pushed wormholers into HAM-legions.

Blasters are certainly alive and well in solo and small gang roams. Not so much for big null blobs though, but there are a few reasons for that. Such as how many ships you can end up losing before you manage to fire back successfully.

But a small gang roam into somebody's backyard with a few tackle that call out when they catch somebody napping and then the blaster boys go to town? It still happens.

One of my favourite ships is the vigilant with blasters. Nothing beats the feeling of getting on close and knowing that neither you or your target is going to move until one of you is dead.

The vast majority of my KB is with brawling ships, and many of my kills are kiting ships. Make no mistake, brawling ships can and do catch and kill kiting ship quite often. In fact, if your kiting ship gets caught by a brawler at all, it's probably dead. It's what you sacrifice to gain the range advantage that I take advantage of.

Fixed that for ya. If you're going to fly a jamboat, always use T2s and heat 'em up.

If EVE is a PvP game, then Anti-Ganking is emergent gameplay.
