Standings Question

Hello,

So I want a POS in high sec. I understand that you need high standings with the faction to do so. So can I do this, or will it not work:

- buy a pre-made corp with high faction standings
- only have toons in it that have NO standings with the given faction
- will the standings change over time back to zero, or will they stay high because none of the toons have standing with that faction?

Thanks!

Standing will never change if there is nobody in the corp to cause them to change.

Note that you only need standing to anchor a tower in hisec. Not to do anything else with the POS.

Also the POS will stay there once the faction standing changes, you only need the standing to anchor the tower, not the keep it online.

how people often think standings work:
corpie 1 standing: 10
corpie 2 standing: 0 (no standing is 0 right?!)

average corp standing: (10+0)/2 = 5

how standings actually work:
corpie 1 standing: 10
corpie 2 standing: null (no standings is actually "null")

average corp standing: (10)/1 = 10

ps welcome to the wonderful world of database math... Shocked

running a single mission will give you a value, never having done a mission (or other event to cause a standing change) will give you null.

another thing to note is that corp average standing changes are gradual. If you kick out all the chars who don't meet the standings requirements, the corp average standing will creep up to the new value over a week(ish?) or so. If you take on a new member with low standings it'll creep down in the same way.

I'm sure there are people out there selling a service where they sit in your corp for a week or so to push up the standings rather than "buying" a pre made corp as an alternative.

And yes, the standings checks are only for the moment you click "anchor" on a high sec pos... after that you just need the faction certs and fuel to keep it online. If it goes offline for any reason it'll remain anchored in place. If you drop below the standings requirements there is no change to the POS, unless you decide to unanchor it and reanchor it elsewhere, in which case you'll need to meet the standings as a new pos anchoring event.
